I'm sure the Americans did the best they could at that given time. I support them tremendously. I'm proud of Yoder-Begley, Flangan and McGregor.

Cecily Lemmon   August 15 at 9:31pm
I know there aren't many people named Cecily out there, so i just wanted to clarify that the Cecily who has been commenting on here isn't Cecily Lemmon. I quite enjoyed the race. I love a good last 100 meter sprint no matter how the rest of the race was run.

I am pretty dam&n;sure, Shalane is going to say she wants to run marathons like Kara...

Responding To Cecily   August 15 at 1:30pm
I agree.... It was kind of boring.... I though that Shalane would give them a run for there money... But hopeful the women's 5k and Marathon would be a better race..... I can't wait to see Kara and Paula go at it...

Cecily   August 15 at 1:25pm
I think Defar has enough experience to know how to run a 10K and I wanted her to win, if our Americans couldn't, but I don't like to see people sleeping on the track. It would be a hollow victory for me to win a race at a slow pace like the 5,000 M at last year's Olympics.

Cool   August 15 at 1:23pm
I hate to see somebody sit and don't even share the lead, so Defar she deserved to lose, Lineth Masai, she is the girl! She races the same like her brother Moses, good tacticts..

Responding To Cecily   August 15 at 1:21pm
That’s true, but this was the 1st time Defar race a 10k in a championship... She should have realized that running a 5k is different than running a 10k... Honesty I don't think this is going to be a good championship for US distance runners... I will be surprise if any American male or female medal in the distance events. Americans still have a long time to go, before they can complete with the Kenyans and Ethiopians.
reply

Cecily   August 15 at 1:13pm
I know but Defar deserved to lose and so did the Americans. I would rather come in dead last and set a PR than win a race. I am tire of getting excited about these races following the women throughout the season and then just sit back in a race with no fight. The US Championships were just as bad.

Day 1 World Champs Prediction Contest, Women's 10K

During the nine days of the IAAF World Championships Flotrack will be having prediction contests. Events throughout the competition will be chosen for you to predict the medalists. The winner of each prediction will win Reebok gear, the same gear the athletes received upon arrival in Berlin. So stay on the look out each day at 10am EST/7am PST during the Flotrack LIVE Show to see what the new prediction contest will be. Leave you predictions below for the Women's 10k final that will be run tonight! Predictions need to be in by 1:30pm EST.

Rules for the prediction contest:
1) As always, make sure you are logged in to Flotrack.
2) Below each LIVE show video, leave your predictions. Predictions should be in order of your choice of medalists.
3) The tie-breaker will be the predicted time of the winner. So make sure to leave a time!
4) With each contest, make sure to see what the give-a-way is and leave your size accordingly. Tell us men's or women's and then clothing or shoe size (depending on the prize).
5) Predictions need to be in by the start of each event. (predictions will be made for finals only)
