Did you think any of the American men in the race were capable of running sub-2:15? None of the best marathoners were even in the race, so why would you think we would run 2:06? We have 2 Americans capable of running that time and if they had been in the race, then you would have nothing to complain about. As fast as Dan Browne is, was he going to run 2:06? Being a new marathoner, did you think Gabrielson was going to run 2:06? If they haven't ever run anything close to that, why would you expect them to do it all of the sudden. There are no miracles in running. People are either in position to win and they have the ability to do it, or not.

Told ya, told ya, told ya so!! Don't you hate people like me. Thanks Karragont, you proved me right. I also won a side bet that she would not even medal with 2 big dogs in women marathoning sitting it out. She should have tried for that baby sooner. Bad call Alberto. Good job Desi, I said you'd break 2:28 and you did. Here come the jealous people who know nothing about running!!!! Bring it on and tell me what a know-it-all I am, because I was right. Desi pr's and Kara falls apart. Any predictions on her 4th marathon results????? Panthervision...............who cares who else dropped out. The winning men's time was a sub 2:07 and our first place finisher was a sub2:17. Yeah, we as a country were really impressive.

Actually, I think it's USATF that pays for the athletes expenses. Lots of people dropped out in this race, not just the Americans.

I agree. Kara is going to place higher because of so many of the top women not being there (like the 10,000 in Osaka (3rd) versus almost getting lapped in Beijing) but so many people on this site can't figure that out for themselves. Why, I don't know?

I'm betting 4th place as well, but maybe with Paula not there (among a few others who have pulled out), she can sneak in for 3rd. Less than 24 hours from now, we will find out.
AGREED!!!!!!! 5:15 am eastern time I believe it is on Universal.

I'll be watching. I've got her pegged for 4th place and I'm bettin' a pair of running shoes on it, shoes valued at $100. If I'm right, they're are mine!!!! If not, I gotta cough up the dough. I think I got it!!! She won't be there at the end and if she is, she can't kick!

The Americans sucked...you could tell in the interview that they weren't ready to run. The US should also hold marathoners to a standard. If they don't make it, they stay home.
Kara will do the same tomorrow. Watch and see. I agree with the comment about all of those who have dropped out who are faster, it still won't get her the gold and she'll have excuse after excuse afterwards. Wait for it........................wait for it..............you'll see. She's Kara Karrogant and AC is right, her half doesn't make her a marathoner.

Another dismal showing by the Americans. 2:16 plus for the first US finisher. Pretty sad when you look at the overall times of the top runners. Even with so many of the top women in the world dropping out of the women's race, Kara will be lucky to finish better than 3rd. You'll see come tomorrow.

R U serious????? Why were Hall and Meb not selected? They run the Olympics and for money, not a marathon that will hinder their chances at decent results during an October/Nov. Marathon. I hope that helps.

Here's Ed Torres and Matt Gabrielson a few days before the Men's World Championship Marathon at the Reebok Hospitality. At the end of the interview, predict the medalists of the Men's Marathon.....gold-silver-bronze and don't forget the winner's time.

Rules for the prediction contest:
1) As always, make sure you are logged in to Flotrack.
2) Below each LIVE show video, leave your predictions. Predictions should be in order of your choice of medalists.
3) The tie-breaker will be the predicted time of the winner. So make sure to leave a time!
4) With each contest, make sure to see what the give-a-way is and leave your size accordingly. Tell us men's or women's and then clothing or shoe size (depending on the prize).
5) Predictions need to be in by the start of each event. (predictions will be made for finals only)
