Wow - Too bad there won't be a W 800m or a w Steeple! Thre must not be or you would have mentioned them. :-) We have some runners I would like to see in those races.

What kind of camera do you use for these little talking spots? It has a pretty decent picture.

It's obvious that both Ritz and Rupp can break 27:08. I have no doubt that they can both break 27

RITZ!!!! AMAZING!!!
He is now the #3 non-African behind Baumann at 12:54 (92 Oly gold medalist) and Buster at 12:55.

The fastest non-African in the 10k is Barrios at 27:08. Just get a fresh Ritz to the line in 2010 and that record should fall.
I wish Teg was in there today.

This is one of the most definitive moments of my life as a track and field fan. I don't want to sound y but... yes i do. For 7 years, I've been yelling my claim relentlessly that Dathan Ritzenhein can break the American Record in the 5K. I don't think a single person has ever agreed, and about 1000 people online have laughed in my face about it. The typical opinion over the years has been "He might be able to break 13:10 but he'll never get close the AR" and "You have no idea what it takes to run the fast." "Dathan doesn't have the mile speed that Bob Kennedy had and never will" and one of my favorites- "Dathan's 8:11 2mile was a fluke". I've never doubted for a second that Dathan Ritzenhein has been the best man in America for bringing down Bob Kennedy's record. I love Ritz. Plenty of people knew Dathan needed to return to the track because they knew Dathan belonged on the track. Flotrack knew it. Mark and Ryan have been saying that Dathan needs to be back on the track because he simply belongs on the track. XC, he's brilliant. 1/2 marathons and full thons, Dathan will have his day there. He came back to where he needed to be right now though and he very deservedly the new king of American distance running at 5K and 10K. Dathan deserves this more than anyone. He is a KING among men.

London isn't part of the Golden League, so her loss doesn't count for the Jackpot, read the IAAF article first: http://www.iaaf.org/GLE09/news/newsid=54124.html

Isinbayeva lost in London. She's not in the running for the Jackput. She'll be motivated enough regardless.

Tomorrow marks the last Outdoor track meet that Flotrack will be at for the 2009 season. The Golden League Meeting at Zurich is stacked every year. Usually the races consist of the finalists you saw the World Championships the week before. This year its no different. It will be a short, fast meet with some great athletes. Three athletes, Sanya, Bekele, and Isinbayeva, are all in the running for the IAAF Golden League $1Million Jackpot. All three need to win to have a shot at the prize!
