wait how far is this course? how can you even compare it to Mt. SAC if it isn't even 3 miles?

I have been to both courses and comparing Mt. Sac and Van Courtland is like comparing the Rockies to the Appalchian Mountains. The last two miles of Mt. Sac are gruesome. Both courses bottle neck and you need to get out. The first mile of Mt. Sac is very fast which makes for an unforgiving pace once you hit the big three hills (Switch back, poop out, reservoir if I remember right). Van Courtland at least starts to seperate the pretenders with a hill early on prior to the bridge crossing, where at Mt Sac you have to wait to switchback hill and a lot of kids totally slow down at that point bottle necking the slower starters who are trying to pass.

I don't know whats more appealing a shirtless Kyle Merber cameo or delicious carrot cake.

Course is 2.5 miles... and that carrot cake place is really good.

I'm taking the comparison between Mt SAC and Van Cortlandt Park with a grain of salt. I don't think it would be a fair comparison with the detours, construction, fences, and dirt mounds. I have a great respect for Van Cortlandt Park. What I would be more interested in this month is some of the Mt SAC elite who will be running in the Ivy League Championships just before Holloween. Hillary May (Harvard), Sarah Cummings (Princeton), Erin Gillingham (Columbia) are near the top of the Mt. SAC food chain. I would love to hear their comparisons!
