The problem for WSU is they are slotted for 8th place in the west region, so it doesn't matter how many points they have because they are too far back. I believe you can't push in 2 teams. But if they do better then they are "supposed" to at regionals then lots can change. This calculator is really cool but, it is all smoke and mirrors until regionals

Lamar will beat Texas A&M;and Texas. It will be Arkansas and Lamar 1-2 in the South Central with Texas and Texas A&M;battling for 3rd and 4th!

Texas A&M;(in my opinion) has the 2nd strongest team in the SC Region. Though it will be a dog fight for the second auto-spot behind Arkansas, I think A&M;men will grab it. Lamar... not so much (they'll take 4th).

I think WSU also beat Tulsa and Iowa at Pre-Nats. Of course they sucked at PAC10s.

Didn't WSU beat NC State and Butler at Pre-Nats. Should they get points for that?

Good question, you MUST be in the top 25 to make it as an individual. Last year so many West Region teams qualified that only 2 runners were in the top 25 not on a team going. That allowed for the at large # to expand to 4 instead of 2. Zac Hine's 12th place finish in the NE was deeemd worthy despite being the 7th individual in the NE because it was a better finish than other in other regions not going.

For individuals, it's top 4 in each region who are not on a team that qualifies. Plus two 'at large' individuals (in the whole country), chosen by a committee. See http://web1.ncaa.org/web_files/champ_handbooks/cross_country/2009/09_1_crosscountry.pdf

Great job as usual Ryan and Flotrack - it's clear how diligent and analytical you guys are with this.

Is it top 3 or 4 individuals that get the individual bids in each region?

if ohio state upsets and gets in, things could be shaken up since they came in 23rd or something at pre nats

I can't wait to see how things will shape up. It definitely promises to be a good fight to see who gets in though.
