From devils advocate on letsrun:

Arizona State beats Cal Poly on the tiebreaker. In the NCAA, the tiebreaker is head to head comparisons of the teams' top 5.
5 Cal Poly 155 14 24 34 38 45 55 58
5 Arizona State 155 7 25 28 35 60 61 69
ASU wins the #1, 3, and 4 runners.

Mohamed was in the top 15 at the regional meet his last two seasons. But last week he was in the ER for a medical issue. Had he just finished 20th yesterday SIU would have been 3rd in the region and all but guaranteed their spot at Nationals. I prey they still make it.

Right...   November 15 at 12:25pm
i was under the impression that in a tied through 5 runner situation it comes down to the 6th runner. which ever team had a better placed 6th man that the tie would be broken giving the nod to the team with the lower score through 6 runners. iv never heard about the 1,2,3 runner head to head match up before.

it will be sad if SIU doesn't make it, as Mohamed Mohamed their second runner, had a battle with sickness earlier this week and dropped out of the race.

Looks like Poly got A State on the 6th man rule.
There's a monkey wrench for the calculator.

Question....   November 14 at 9:41pm
how did Southern Illinois get into the meet but auburn and ohio state didnt? maybe im missing something but according to their results they dont have any points that i could find. the only thing i could see is that they were 5th in their region, one ahead of iowa...who is tied with auburn on points in head to heads. they split 1 and 1 on head to heads and both beat michigan state. perhaps im missing something but i would have auburn and ohio state for the last two spots....

*Note: Two of the last team in, Southern Illinois and Iowa. This may be a battle with Ohio State and Auburn. Southern Illinois is pushed in by Iowa. Iowa, Ohio State, and Auburn all have two wins. Ohio State has beat Iowa head-head. So it will be a toss up and we may see Ohio State and Auburn as the last two in.
