yeah, the counter did get a little carried away after the 50 mark, but who the hell cares, he broke that record by way more than one pushup would add.

Remember you have to be a coach...
Why are random people claiming this isn't the record? Who are you?
Hayes should know how to do a push-up considering his background with the armed forces...
A push-up is a push-up. It's strategy any way you decide to do it. He's just a smart man

COACH HAYES, MOST INTELLIGENT COACH

When's German's video going up?

I just saw it, and I don't want to spoil it, but he does far far better than I anticipated.

they skipped one pushup at around 60 but wouldn't make any difference on the breaking of the record.

German is not a coach. Doesn't matter. Most of these guys could do that at German's age.

Other coaches take note, he used a wide arm stance and that makes it easier. The closer in your hands are the higher you have to lift.

Coach Hayes actually told me the other day that the he thought there was a miss count. We are going to incorporate a 5 sec penalty for the pushup that was missed.

New Record Time = 2:21
As you heard, he will try it again at NCAAs so we'll get it again!

I second that it was only 99. That makes 2:16 unofficial. He definately would have still had it but it would be closer to 2:20 and when you get down to the elite level...those seconds count...just ask Teg.

wait, is this 100 push ups straight with no break, or are you allowed to rest for a little, and the goal is just to finish 100 as fast as possible? I can only do about 40 push ups straight through with no rest!
The goal is to finish 100 as fast as possible. It doesn't matter whether you go straight through or take breaks. The clock just keeps running untill you finish 100

John Hayes at University of Texas attempts The Pushup Challenge

Just down the road from the Flotrack HQ, Coach John Hayes at the University of Texas accepted the 100-pushup challenge. With the record of 2:44 on the board, Hayes claimed that he could get under the 2:30 barrier....a mark that only few have dreamt of. With the support of his Longhorn Harriers, Hayes began to tackle the madness that is THE PUSHUP CHALLENGE!!
