when are you high schoolers going learn that a middle distance runner is different than a long distance runner. you cant compare a 1600m with a 5k
its like saying usain bolt is better than michael johnson!
please leave the crap to yourselfs

Ya, well aren't you like a soph in college? I'll bet money right now that when Chris is a soph in college he'll be destroying your mile times? Besides, a 13:55 converts to about 4:01.x effort, and I know you never ran that in HS. :P.

I would pay $100 to watch Derrick, Lowe, Fout and Fernandez battle it out at Woodbridge.

I'm not sure about his mile potential, he absolutely has a chance to break the national record in the two mile. We're looking at mid 8:30's...he just doubled 8:48/4:14 by himself last weekend...

puskedra cant touch derrick.. he closed in 61 in the 2-mile.. thats just not strong enough. derrick closed in 1:31 for his last 600m of the 5,000.

Re : Run_x   April 22, 2008 at 9:33pm
Clearly you dont realize the magnitude of this run. He closed his final 3200 in 8:49. Now I would reckon that that means he could probably "hold his own" in a 3200. He even closed his last 1600 in 4:19. So from looking at his end of the race splits, I cant help but think he's got to be the best distance runner in the country right now, when considering races from 1600 to 5000.

Run_x   April 22, 2008 at 11:53am
We cant say hes the best distance runner in the country. There are runners like Puskedra, Lueng, and Smith in the 3200. Robby andrews in the 1600. All we know is this guy can run a 5k

Stephen Boedicker   April 14, 2008 at 8:41pm
harry, I highly doubt he will break 13:40, let alone 13:30. This is a monster run but taking the next 15 seconds off won't just magically happen because he has pacers. Looking at the splits this is one of those special days where it just clicks and you feel great at the end (see Koll's 10k last weekend). Having pacers may have slowed him down or he would have been running by himself just like today.

that's sick. I know Fernandez has a shot at the nat'l 3200 record, so does the guy from Utah. This guy definitely does. I'd like to see them all at a meet together... which could be unlikely.

Guys - if you see this, come out to PA for the distance classic!

at NON I'm sure someone (most likely Derrick after this performance) will want to go for Rupp's 5k record. It's a stretch, but its glory.
