Scotty is so humble, as is Gary Towne (coach). Gary is an EXCELLENT coach, who has done a lot of work to make Chico State a GREAT distance running school. Oh, and I'm not surprised to see Gary barefoot...it's hot in Chico and the grass feels cool on your feet. Gary is a fast runner himself, you know, so maybe his feet are hurting him after his own workout. We're behind you, Scott, for a surprise berth to the Olympics! Go Chico!!!

name of the song/artist when he is doing the workout?
Tough to do a workout like that by yourself. Mad props... and nice mayflys.

his upper body form looks pretty crappy but he has a hella powerful stride.

That guy has some long freakin' strides. It's deceptive. Doesn't look like he's running as fast as he is until you see him running from the side view. Awesome to see a more local runner at that level for me.

The music in the beginning was Coldplay, not Sigur Ros. It's off their new album, Viva la Vida

Who cares what your form looks like if you run fast.
Chico posted June 25 at 2:20pm.
workouts..., form..., good or bad it makes no difference with Scotty. He is the real deal, and come July 4th the rest of the nation will see what Chico fans have seen for the last four years now, guts personified.

I think his form looks a little weird when he's jogging- which makes sense- obviously the guy's not a jogger- his form looks much better at a faster pace.
the hell with Rupp.
Rupp posted June 25 at 1:56pm.
This guy sucks! Go Rupp!!!!!
Manonspeed posted June 25 at 1:48pm.
what is wrong with his form? it is perfectly fine. there are no wierd flails and the stride-length is optimal
REL posted June 25 at 1:47pm.
Good luck....You are ready! Just run "your race"..you'll do great!
Cman posted June 25 at 1:47pm.
i was about to say....sigur ros? sigur ros is amazing though. the music on this one is great!
Anonymous Coward posted June 25 at 1:39pm.
yea his form is the most efficient....still a beastly man
Ian posted June 25 at 1:26pm.
he sounds like a ... toughen up.. aint makin no team with that attitude...
who cares what his form looks like, he gets the job done. arguably one of the worst pieces of form won 3 gold medals in one year back in the 1952 olympics.
I Don't posted June 25 at 11:15am.
I don't see anything wrong with his form, I run the same way, but he probably has more of a back kick. It's obviously working for him
best of luck

Stevo posted June 25 at 9:01am.
Great workout. The guy is in awesome shape - that is a difficult session to do! May suprise a few people at the trial.
Scotty Bauhs has really made a name for himself in 2008 and being an Olympic year we think thats pretty good timing on his part. He comes into this year's trials ranked 7th in the 10k having run the fastest US time in '08 at 27:48. With just over a week to go, many people are wondering if this D2 National Champ has what it takes to make it to Beijing later this summer.
We'd like to thank Vernon Ruiz for filming and editing this week's Workout Wednesday!
