Let's be clear - talented athletes such as Furst do not "have to" wrap it up. That is his choice, not something he is being forced into. It may be a tough road for many 13:50 types now coming out of school - but there are indeed options, more than ever before for athletes of his calibre. If he decides to move on and get a job, great...but it is not his only option.

its a shame that in our sport all these great athletes have to rap it up right after college.

Stephen Furst of NC State

Uploaded By: Flotrack
Stephen Furst has made a steady progression over his 5 years at NC State. This year Furst came out to the ACC Championship meet in April to take down all competitors in the 5k and 10k! He followed it up a week later with a victory at Penn Relays where he ran 13:49. With just over a week until regionals, Furst ranks third in the East and has his sites set on NCAAs.

So I made it, finally in AUSTIN!! My journey led me to a new destination with each passing day. New people, new places, new workouts...it was a blast

My goal was to bring you as much as I could over the month or so I was out on the road. I started up in Maine (at my parents') back in April and journey down to TX. There is plenty of cool stuff out there that I didn't get to see, but that just motivates me for the future and all that we can bring to you here on Flotrack.

I have some more stuff that will be coming out so keep watching. Feel free to let me know what you think so we can get more of what you love in the future!

I hope you enjoy and thanks for all your support alone the way!
