No, "bluepring" my facts are correct. You had quotes around "sit down and talk with terrorists," which indicates a direct quote. He never said those words. He would, however, engage Hamas (Under many of the same preconditions McCain has stated, including recognizing Isreal, and that they RENOUNCE terrorism). Hamas, as an popularly elected entity, has become an essential player in any plan for peace in the middle east, even if they have been designated a terrorist organization.

If by sitting down with terrorists, you mean he said he would meet with Hamas, yes, he said that. Does that mean he intends to bend to the will of the terrorists or be "soft" on them as people love to say? Not at all. As we fight two wars and our credibility abroad continues to decline, would a little diplomacy really be a bad thing? On the other hand, if anyone messes with us (Iran, North Korea etc.), we could just launch a preemptive war to further stretch our already over extended military.....

but I don't want to go to war for a "100 years" (McCain) and I don't want Bill Clinton as this country's first "First Man".

Sandford I think you should do a bit of research before you make yourself look uninformed. It's now all easily available online. Obama did INDEED state he would sit down and talk with terrorists. If you want to debate it is best to first have the facts straight.

Sorry, "bluepring." I don't believe Obama ever said he would "sit down and talk with terrorists." So unless you're quoting Sean Hannity and attributing it to Obama, quotes don't apply. In any case, it's misleading. In terms of substance, your argument has little merit. The Bush method of using pre-emptive military stikes and diplomacy only as a reward has resulted in situations counter to our national security, including a nuclear armed North Korea and a hotbed of anti-American sentiment in Iraq. Obama offers a clean break from those policies, and if you feel that his plans lacks substance, you are either not paying attention, or were never going to support him in the first place.

i think its hilarious that some people feel that strongly about someones background when every candidate left has just as much baggage. shall we get into hillary's finances? clintons infidelity? the fact that mccain wasn't even born in the US, yet the country ignores that? what about mccains pastor? so obama wants to take a carter approach to dealing with turmoil -- i applaud him for trying something new. surely you can't be suggesting that we continue to obliterate anyone who raises an eyebrow at the US? i surely do no want to live in this country if that becomes the norm. its time for a change, and yes, maybe a drastic change. we don't need more of the same -- we tried that 4 years ago and look where its left us.

Obama Man has no experience. . . and he is beyond scary. He wants to "sit down and talk with terrorists". . . he claims he attended a church for 20 years no less and then when the "minister" was outed as a radical militant racist he coped out by saying he wasn't a church when he gave those "sermons." Obama is scary also because he believes he is the appointed one to save us from ourselves with absolutely no plan, just props and lots of slick speeches.

Steve0, that is quite a blanket statement of yours that "all politicians lack substance." Maybe you should do a bit of research on U.S. history. I'm sorry you have such low standards.

All Style And No Substance??   May 11, 2008 at 1:39pm
Sounds familiar....dare I say Bush II? What was the Iraq war? All speculation and no substance? I'm not really trying to start a debate about that, but honestly. Check out his blueprint for America. Read one of his books. Check out the campaign website. There's plenty of substance! This is such a broad generalization that people try to make about him. Americans have been "fooled" by much worse!

brivit, substance? All politicians lack substance, at least Obama will support issues I care about (not veto them like our current idiot president) and he is a really nice guy who has some great ideas for America.
