Everyone needs to chill! Please stop over reading and analyzing this kid through a single video moment. We live in a glass house because of video and each one of use will more than likely be caught on video doing or saying something that could be analyzed or misconstrued. I%u2019ve read all the blogs and people who know this kid are standing up for him. We should each welcome and support Cody during this endeavor. I think it%u2019s fair to assume that you would want a chance to make it right. RIGHT?
How many times have you said something and it was misinterprited? I know that the interview was kind of rough, but I can assure you that kodi is looking forward to running with us. He had just won a state championship, and I can imagine was a bit flustered in front of the camera. It's easy to get on a comment board and pick people apart when your sitting in front of the computer screen. As for the comment about education, our cross country team has the highest average GPA of any athletic team, mens or womens, at A&M Commerce...Ii can assure you he is in good hands.
Short video?? this is the longest inerview of the meet. He talked out of his butt and strait up said pr's are more important than grades. He didn't seem to excited about going to commerce. Maybe the next time you talk to him you should tell him to think before he talks cause he sounded like an idiot. And its not like the interviewer was firing off questions.
Wow! You guys are funny. If you want to bash the kid go on ahead and do so but maybe you should talk to him in person before you make your judgment. Trust me I know the kid and talk to him often. He told me he%u2019s excited about going to Commerce and running with the team there and felt like Commerce is a good fit because of many reasons. He likes the guys on the team, the coach, and it will be a good place for him academically. Cody has some high goals he would like to accomplish in college and has the work ethic to achieve them. If he has the chance to go DI in the future good for him, what high school kid doesn%u2019t have dreams of running for a DI school? If you listen to the video he also said that he might end up staying at Commerce too, which that%u2019s what he%u2019s told me too. So from what I know, he is going to Commerce and see what happens. If he has a shot at DI he might take it or he might not and stay at Commerce. Before any one else bashes the kid you might want to talk to the kid in person before you make your judgments off of a short video. Anyways I wish Cody the best of luck and he should make a great addition to the team at A&M Commerce.
This Kid is a chump if he thinks that his 4:24 mile is more important than his grades. We all love running as much as you do, but get your head right before august hits and you flunk out and have no where to go
haha, sounds like nick here is defending something.. Cody just strait up bashed his school that he is going to. If I was his future team mate I would be pissed. If I was his coach I would be really pissed.
But all in all I bet you this kid never goes D1 cause he won't get done what it takes to go D1. He won't get his hours done. If he barley understands what getting an education is all about now then I doubt he will understand it two years from now. He should of just gone to JUCO so he would have a better shot. D1 coaches can't even talk to him unless he gets a release and if he is running fast I bet he doesn't get one. My money is that this kid flunks out.. To bad he doesn't understand what life is like after high school. The interviewer was trying to tell him school is more important
I've been reading comments on the running sites for years. Leave it to people like you guys to make the world the way it is today. Listening to this video, the way I take it is this kid likes running and has hopes of going to a big school one day (as most kids do). Going to a D1 school learning the ropes of college and getting running in while doing it. I visited with Hughes after state and he chose A&M Commerce because he liked the coach and the team already there. So, what are you faulting him on? That he wants to go to a bigger school later in life. If running is so important and he thought commerce wasn't the place to be, don't think he would have chose them
I think he said he wants to get his basics out of the way... maybe 5 times. TAMU Commerce looks to be a great fit for him, maybe they can work on grammar. Too bad they suck at cross country.
im confused, he said " If I run fast then I will stay at Commerce, but if I don't then I'll go D1." Does he think D1 would take him if he doesn't run fast??? I sure hope he learns the value of an education

What an interview...
It's pretty obvious running is more important that grades...
