bryshon nellums monster anchor &long;beach poly beat those jamaicans! ironically bryshon was shot in leg at a carribbean party just off campus at his college, usc in la in 2008. hasnt run in 2 yrs of college. one of best usa junior cut down. hoping he can come back.
This was certainly one of greatest 4x4s ever, but it was no different than ERs victory, Winslow Twp, LBP girls, Muir or the 2009 4x8...it is always exciting when a US team is in contention. I have been to t&f;meets in more places than I can remember and the Penn Relays HS 4x4 is unique; you actually feel it in your bones. If any H.S. in the U.S. has a 3:12 type 4x4, they can give their kids an experience of a life time by bring them to Penn. - Thanks to whoever posted this because it reminds me of how exciting our sport can be.
Agreed. My bad will turn 19. Lets see if they can better last years time in 4 x 400. They are loaded. I wish Nellum got stick behind Blake. Nellum is just a better 400 man .
Some of us need the Penn Relays "School Days", because Yohan Blake will not be 19 until 12/26/89, he will be 18 until the end of the year. Nellum waited for Blake. If Nellum had gotten the baton behind, all of us would have probably seen the first 44 point relay leg by a high schooler. We might even see by Blake, except he will probably get the baton so far in front, but strange things can happen at the Penn Relays. See you there!!!
'Hush up uno mouth' you can only run against your competitor. If Penn relay want to allow some one that is 19 to run against someone who is 18 that their business, not the Athletes. All I know is respect due to both Nellum and Blake.
I couldn't sleep so I watched 4 races one more time after not playing it through XC. Man...every HS coach should have their team watch this. I've been at The Penn's more than 25 yrs and never have there been four more exciting races at one Penn. I'm gonna' have our girls watch 4 races before indoor Nats. Elenore Roos.Girls & LBP boys, along w/ Blake put on a show. For those of you that don't know that was not the 1st nor the last time Bryshon spanked Yohan! Jamaica vs African american...all in fun, all part of the African diaspora! In NYC we're blessed to have very good Jamaican coaches, C Malcolm, Sean P, Andrew, Lee & others. I love to stick it to my Breadren' & boy can I do it this year! As dem' boys & girls dem' got spanked. Yeah mon! We're trying develope a competetive G 4X8 for 08. It's a long shot, but keep your eyes open for somethisg out of NY. By the way, Brothers Randel J & Chris Malcolm predicted all 4 races. Blake in the 4X2, ER in the G 4X4 & 4X8 & LBP in the B 4X4. See you at the fast track for NSIC in the cultural hub, NYC baby! The House of Swing. Support Ms Clinton event that's where the action is in March! See ya'!
Whatz up dude I appreciate the footages from the penn relays.
I've attended the penn relays 3years in a row. I was part of the 4x800 relay runnin 7:49. my split was 1:59 first leg. and now my talent will go to my kids. I was a big time distance runner for the metro area
One of the greatest 4x4's ever !! I'm still have a natural high from this watching this race live,my dvd,and on Flotrack.Another great 4x4 was when Shalonda Soloman put it down against Holmwood in the same fashion.Unbelievable!!
It's amazing that 4 months later we are still excited over this race. It was a great TEAM victory! I really loved seeing the LBP third leg, Isaiah Green rally for position on the curve- HE'S A TRUE FOOTBALL PLAYER who runs fast!He also chose college football. Watch out for him! Go Fresno State Bulldogs !
long beach poly in legendary in ca. another state championship, natl best. thank god for track and field, bryshon nellum is going to usc in track not football like david gettis of dorsey high in la, 2005. gettis is playing football at baylor intexas and doing nothing when he had michael johnson potential.i hope he wises up and comes back to t&f.
yo! this was the best race ever... i been at Penns for years, and i never seen or heard a crowd explode like this. United states high school team Poly rep us big time. Sorry Jam maybe next year.. but 07 was ours. Much luv track and field world
i'm gonna say it once and once only u ppl who think jago is gonna win tha 4x1 and 4x4 r crazii we r gonna win them both 4x1 &4x4 this is Shane from Calabar High School we won't it 2 bad manute much love ..
omg i had so much fun im joey i was the first leg man that was a blessing to do that. for all of us 2 have a good day and run so well i thank god and i want all of u guys 2 kno that we give the praze to god 4 that race
Yeah I remember this race, the BEST 4x4 i have ever seen in person. For some reason I wanted LBP to win so bad and when they did i felt like i did something. One of the greatest moments in T and F
St. Jago and Kingston College will be back to dominate next year... Great race... An even greater race was ran 2years ago when Jamiaca won the 4x400 in USA vs the World.
i was their and i never been in a louder stadium i've been to a PennState football game but i never heard it get louder than this. and also i would like to see more of the southern school compete in the penn relays like school from alabama florida south carolina louisania texas and more cali teams we only got one and that's poly but their is lot good teams in these states like if you watch the texas stat championship and but those teams in atmosphere like that these teams may beat the Jamaican teams and jamaica won't be dominated but great race
3:09.9 in the 4x400 is not slow. There is not a high school runner in the country that runs 44.6. If Nellums is slow, I'd hate to see fast because that person would be blazing. I'd bet you could not beat him because 44.6 is bogus!
A true classic that represented all they is good in american track and field these days. Perhaps one of Track and fields best says - pure clean competition of athletes who, more or less, have not been spoiled or corrupted by the ugly wold of professuoinal t and F sharks and opportuitists
James I saw your race and you have a lot of talent for a middle school sprinter. Train hard and you can be as good or better that your cousin Bryshon in the 100 and 400. Bryshon is going to USC.
ma cuz bryshon killed it...im only 14...i run a 49.7 400....check out my video on here....u gotta go to day 2 penn relays nd 4x1 nd middle school men....im da anchor leg on da blue team that won (academy park knights)...i ran a 11.4 split nd remember im only 14
i use to run in high school at penn (10 years ago) and i ve seen some good races which included obea moore but this race was one of a kind. this race should good down as the best 4x 400 ever.... i really felt like i was there and trust me the penn relays crowd gets rowdy. you havent been to a real track meet until you go to the penn relays..... to hear the people chanting U.S.A over and over again is unexplainable......its like a olympics for high school track............one word descibes the meet....breathtaking....just like that race........
This was the best race at the Penn Relays and also the best race I've ever seen college or pro period. I meet Longbeach Poly's Bryshon Nellums (anchor leg)mom in the airport and she was watching a recording of the race.
I still get goose bumps when i watch this ..
it gets me so excited each time i watch this race
this year.letsgo jamaica schools.
How old is Yohan Blake? I'd bet he isn't 18. I'd bet 21 or 22 :-)
I've attended the penn relays 3years in a row. I was part of the 4x800 relay runnin 7:49. my split was 1:59 first leg. and now my talent will go to my kids. I was a big time distance runner for the metro area
They'll reload like the always do.
