- See Less - Alan Webb jumped into the national scene in high school with his success at the Footlocker National Cross Country Championships and more notably with his success in the mile. He smashed Jim Ryun's HSR of 3:55.3 at the Prefontaine Classic with a time of 3:53.43. Webb is also the first high schooler ever to run a sub 4:00 mile indoors.
After a year of running at the University of Michigan, Webb turned pro and started running for Nike under high school coach, Scott Raczko. He broke the American Record in the Two Mile at Nike Prefontaine Classic in 2005 in 8:11.48. Webb has since broke Steve Scott's American Mile Record (3:47.69) in Brasschaat, Belgium in a time of 3:46.91 and has also racked up personal bests of 1:43.84 in the 800m and 3:30.54 in the 1500m.
I have to say, most of the comments here are extremely childish with only a few exceptions. I don't know who these people are (and don't want to know), but they need to take their immaturity elsewhere. This an excellent website and could be a lot better if it were not for the deviant comments. Very sad...
The "ROB JACKSON" guy acts like he knows all the athletes and speak these "words of wisdom" like he's some kind of preacher. Dude, quit leaving all your stupid comments on every video on this site. Get a life loser!
I don't like this particular set of comments. The whole web site for alan's 3:30 with all the negative comments sucks!!! I know there is freedom of speech, but come on people, please,***,jewish comments.Flocast should start editing all posts on it's comment area. The guy's an American for christ sake.Get a medal Alan and put em all to shame.
Moderator - I don't see a problem discussing possible *** etc use, but perhaps you could remove some of the excessively offensive comments including those which mention "***" and "*****". These types of comments are unnecessary.
Okay to all these losers that are "PRETENDING" to be me, cut that out cuz you guys are all STUPID. The thing is, Alan Webb sucks, he always will, and he will show how much he sucks when he gets raped in Osaka. Do you guys not get it? The USA sucks and will never be good, everyone is on EPO and other anabolic steroids....whatta shame, I'd rather be Canadian!
Ok That second post was not me. Congrats in France Alan, that was funny when the crowd went silent after you told Mehdi Baala who was boss. You dont look as studly like EL G though as a miler running the 15.
Alan,
PS stay away from Mottram on circuit. You could have ran a 3.25.80 if you rear end was not sore from Mottram.
Shutup David Gohrband, you dont know him as much as I do. Dude, I saw Alan Webb take epo one time so you can shut your hole...this guy is a loser and he will get his ass raped in Osaka....just watch!
He amazing and getting better. I am afraid though that he might be a marked man now. He was able to surprise everyone in the race and that edge is gone. To win in Japan he will need to stay in front as long as he can and make it a sprint the last 300. He is a friend of mine and I talked to him after the win. He feels great and is staying in Europe to compete and train for Japan. He is also still very humble and has not changed at all, and I have known him since he was born.
Hard work pays. Alan Webb has put tremendous efforts in his career and each day has shown greater achievments and he is a great admiration to lovers of track and field. Keep up the same spirit Mr Webb. Joseph K Terer,

Now finally there is evidence that there are hopes for American middle and distance running. Alan is one example and there are others who just have to step and see themeselves they can do it. Go USA !!!
How can you loose all respect for these guys with their interviews. You must not understand the excitement after such a great performance. These younger guys might not be as reserved as a veteran like lagat but this is what the US needs. Athletes who win and aren't afraid to say how they felt about the race. Nothing he said was at all cocky and was just the emotional high you get after a an excellent pr race. Lets stop bashing our future runners about what you think are bad interviews.
I'm sure he had a crap load of thoughts on his mind. How are you suppose to go through an interview and speak elequently after you've run your ASS off and run faster then you EVER have.
Give the guy a break
and i lose respect for your comment when you screw up easy words... great run regardless of his post race interview skills... dude just ran a 3:30 he has a right to be little absent minded...
