great alistair - its so good to see you kicking some ass again! watched you in birmingham in the euro indoors and felt like you knew there was a lot more you had to offer. next time you're in birmingham, look me up and we'll go for an easy 10 along the canal towpathss - it doesn't match up to the RAC 5km TT for hills, but its still fun jumping fisherman and catching cyclists :-). mince
ps a note for the interviewer/commentator. learn the ethiopian names and faces!

Not sure why it matters about saying your time goals, I bet Bekele will come out and say he wants the WR just like Alan Webb said he wanted the AR. In terms of placing, everyone wants to do as well as they can. Him saying top 5 is a doable goal that doesn't really fire any other athletes up becuase he doesn't mention anyone by name that he thinks he can beat.

If I were an elite athlete, I would be averse to the idea of publicly answering any Qs about my time goals (if I had any) or my thoughts about my ability to compete with specific other athletes. It's too much like tipping one's hand in poker: "never let the other guy know how much you're hurting!"
Nice work, Mr. Cragg.

top 5 is probably correct that means no medal. But, he has a better chance than the americans do.

Good Job, But   July 22, 2007 at 12:30am
every time you interview him, you ask him what his goal for worlds is. his answer is always the same
