First Dobson and Hall took the top spots at the NCAA championships in Sacramento. Next, he finished second at the US championships with a time of 13:15.33, which qualified him for Worlds. At Stanford, Ian earned nine All-American honors and finished runner-up twice. Dobson holds the Stanford school record for the steeplechase with a time of 8:32.09. Dobson presently trains in Mammoth Lakes California under Terrence Mahon along side Ryan Hall among others.
