Im disappointed in Lagat.....I'm Kenyan and probably might change my citizenship to American but that doesn't make me an American....I can never say im proud to be an American...No amount of money can make me say that...Many foreigners work in America and have eventually become Americans but many can never claim to be proud American!! Lagat is a sellout....

I think US deserve the Gold, how many Kenyan athletes get developed by US coaches and using US facilities? and how many upcoming athletes still in kenya being ignored? Running for US is not only a personal choice but a wise one.

John: wow get out of flotrackr, you should be proud running has gone so far. If Lagat was Kenyan I would still be as proud for him. Great Job Lagat!

Stop hating. You should be proud that USA is winning medals. Lagat is proud to be an American.

As an immigrant from Africa I feel the same pride Lagat is feeling to have become an American citizen. And he did train in America...didnt he?

Lagat is a great runner and an even greater person. There's no one more deserving right now.

Hey Legat how much money is the U.S paying to say " i love americans, usa is the best and i did this for the katrina victums??? and soldiers in iraq????" Bra how about the kids in africa that were looking up to you when they were growing up. Once you wear that kenyan jersey you cant go back man. do the right thing for mama Africa because with out here you are nobody, thank her for giving you that altitude gene lol. very disappointed!!

Robin September 2, 2007 at 1:34pm.
'm American and couldn't care less if Legat has become American. I just love to watch great runners. I don't care where they're from. Bernard has been a favorite of mine since he was Kenyon. He's a favorite now that he's an American and he'll be a favorite of mine if he later represents a different country.

I think Lagat is a great man actually because he has dedicated his life in sports and also as an america patriot.

#24
Lagat August 31, 2007 at 7:33pm.
I was just pretending EL G was in front of me.

Lagat Fan August 30, 2007 at 5:19pm.
Gotta love Lagat...what a guy...
I felt really sorry for Webb, though, when it showed Lagat getting the flag. Webb tried to go and congratulate him, but everyone was to caught up in the momnet, then Webb just walked off, all dejected-looking...those moments after the race must have really sucked for him.
#18
Sridhar August 30, 2007 at 3:17pm.
Alan Webb is also a great runner too. In my opinion, he should try to compete in the 5000 as well. Competition in 5000 helps 1500 performance..(Hicham el gerroouj and Lagat) are good examples...

I dont care if you think lagat should not have won or not, but webb did not deserve the win, he ran poorly and lost the championship
#6
Muffintop August 30, 2007 at 10:12am.
Anyone who has ever attended a US naturalization ceremony will understand that this guy is as American as anyone. We should all be proud that Lagat chose to become an American. Go USA!

Anonymous Coward August 30, 2007 at 10:09am.

I met him at Millrose and he was a wonderful guy. Nice to everyone always has a word to say. It makes me so happy to see him win a race like this.

Patrick August 30, 2007 at 8:25am.
I like this guy tons. He has a powerfully easy gait and running style; I'm glad he runs for U.S. mostly because we get to watch him run. I listen to his optimistic enthusiasm in interviews and can imagine it translating into unbeatable energy in training and races. Good luck in 5000 Bernard.

AWESOME race Bernard...we love to have you competing for the US!!
You perform BIG in the BIG races!

This guy is so humble. It is unbelievable. He ran so smart. His qualifying race was smart. He ran 51 secs for the last 400.He stayed out of trouble in the final. He stayed out of the box.Stayed in between lanes 1&2 and went hard when it was time to go.If he medals in the 5000,WOW what an amazihg feat that would be.
