Ritz is not over rated you jackass... 10k isn't his event, how many americans do you know can run that pace and then close there last two laps under 1:55. Marathon all the way for ritz, Rupp is going to be a Stud when he gets older. With Alberto as his coach and the great training parteners he has he will be amazing. Just wait and see. You may bash on all the extra crap they use but I be that it works, Because it is science you freaking idiot. Rupp will destroy all this year. The 10k for 08 Abdi, Rupp, Culepepper. Ryan Hall will win the marathon. Alan webb will be in the mix for a medal, Lagat is gonna win the 1500m again, and matt teg will medal next time around..

I think this kid really has it and is capable of developing to the next level that you have to be to become really competetive. Look at and keep developing yourself and you can do it and do not look yourself below Ritz- he is overated and you are underated.

The kid is good. Mottram is the only white guy that can mix at the moment in the distance events. Although rupp has run fast (in america, way b4 the "real" season started) he hasnt gone to europe yet. Wen Rupp can get to europe run in the big meets over there we will see what this guy has. Good Luck to him and congradulations on a great break through this season.

I honestly think Salazar and co. get way too tech. Rubber suits, altitude tents, ice vests, breathe rite strips...it all just seems so tacky and impure and not in the spirit of the sport...sorry to use a cheap cliche there...couldn't resist...

some ruu folks are hating on a barely 21 year old if at all...listen rupp is tougj and puts himself on the line in. against the best in the world whenever he gets the chance. give him a bit a praise for toeing up don't pull him down for getting lappedm he's young talented and confident, suppport his talents...

one of the tags for him is breathe right strips? that's funny. He should get a commercial or something.

you think he can come back in cross and contend for the national title?

ive always wondered how to make a transition from a rough summer track season directly into cross

Nice Job Rupp August 28, 2007 at 6:12pm.
um am i missing something here, the kid is in college.. and didn't take a major in public speaking. i bet non of the people who denounces rupp on his speach have every spoken on tv, its totally different, and for a kid so young to handle media coverage that smoothly, he deserves reps

Paulw August 28, 2007 at 10:23am.
I think the comments on his speach are lame. You try and do an interview after finishing a 10k in the heat and humidity of Japan. I ran in Japan on vacation recently and it is not only the heat and humidity it is the air, it is definitely a different quality. You finish running and it feels like there is no air almost like high altitude.

Go Galen and Go Ducks!

If you think Alan Webb and Rupp are even in remotely the same situation you are an idiot.

ok maybe he talks like his mouth is full or something, but something is off

Eritrean August 28, 2007 at 1:23am.
why are you so concerned with how he speaks? is it necessary? seriously? No! if you ask me, he speaks perfectly fine, and to say he talks like he's black is utterly absurd. perhaps, you people have a lot of growing up to do. just let the kid be; he has got so much personality and has a bright future ahead of him.

whether he speaks conventional english or not is totally irrelevant. find something better to do than quibble over trivial bullsh*t. instead of dogging him, why not applaud the fact that he, along with other young american stars, are building the reputation and respect for this country's distance program.

respect the athletes that represent our country. they don't deserve to be ridiculed.

Sounds pretty level-headed. Just wish he could speak better...

I find it interesting that everyone is simpathetic towards Rupp and his race, but they dog Alan Webb every chance they get, (who would run Rupp through the cleaners)-...hypocrytes!

Definitely a learning/humbling experience for Rupp....his talents will be tested even more in the Olympic year. Prior comments from frank and Go Rupp are juvenile and uncalled for especially coming from those who are white and know nothing of the black or African experience.
