Oh yes--Sally Kipyego is a fantastic runner whose deeds should not go unregarded. The recent historical flow of kenyan runners to the united states (c.f. lagat, to kipyego) evidences the converging destinies of kenyan and american running, that mutual destiny which is symptomatic, an indication, of the contemporaneity of worthy competitors. And as the American running legacy grows stronger in the future, we must appreciate the legacies of other nations, other traditions, in order to appreciate our own accomplishments--I always say it takes two (atleast] to be great!

Fascinating--she likes the track way better! probably because she excels on it! But, she excels at xc as well! Thus, I find puzzling, her lack of endorsement for xc, regardless of preference, as surely her work on the xc course will transfer to the track manyfold, carrying her past others without the range and experience that she has. But regardless, she is part of a new wave of runners who will make us proud internationally! Lord bless this land.

OK! It's the night before the West Regionals and Oregon/Stanford girls will go at it again tomorrow. With Sammons absent from the PAC-10 Championship Oregon still managed a good showing and a solid 2nd place. Sammons has been back on the road for a while. Coaches decision: run her tomorrow or take a 2nd to Stanford and go head hunting for them at the Nats. Sammons will be ready on the 19th. This is a great chess game. I still think Oregon girls will take the National this year!

You really have to look at Oregon as a major contender for PAC-10 and Nats this year. With Alex healthy, they are the equal of Stanford. We'll know in a couple of weeks!
