University of Minnesota Roy Griak Invitational - 9/29/07 It was a blustery fall day, with rain, shine, and even some lighting at the Les Bolstad Golf Course, Minneapolis, a fitting stage for one the first big meets of the year. At the forefront of the 8 races that included Men’s, Women’s, and highschool divisions was Lopez Lomong, a rising star from Division I Northern Arizona, and the No. 8 Division I ranked Lady Gophers of Minnesota. Lopez Lomong(Northern Arizona) cruised to victory in the Division I race followed by teammate David McNeill in second, and Chris Rombaugh of Minnesota in third. The duo helped give NAU the overall Men’s DI title followed by Arizona State and Iowa State. In the Women’s DI race, with as steady rain falling, the No. 8 ranked Minnesota Gopher team upset the No. 6 Arizona State team on their home turf, finishing first and second respectively, with Michigan State coming in third overall. Overall, Emily Harrison of Virginia got the win, followed by the duo of Lisa Koll and Grace Kemmey of Iowa State, in second and third place.
