June 3, 2009To reduce the drag caused by the wind, Nike shrouded the Flywire fibers in a lightweight fabric that allows sprinters to cut through the wind like Formula one racing cars. The number of seconds it takes sprinters to reach maximum speed. To keep them from getting bogged down while accelerating, Nike eliminated the sock liner used in traditional track spikes and replaced it with a thin layer of suede. The Zoom Aerofly is one of Nikes most technologically advanced and lightest weight track and field offerings ever, designed to lock down the foot, grip the track, and provide advanced aerodynamic properties to shave valuable time off the clock.
