Cara, you should consider flying out of Charlotte, North Carolina It might be a bit of a drive but it can save you over $100. Remember that price is often about the amount of maneuvering an airline has to do to get you to where you need to go. There is not way you will get a non-stop flight from any airports near you so that it going to add lots of money onto the cost.

On the other hand, Charlotte, North Carolina is virtually owned by United Airways, that is their hub for all planes on the east coast. Anywhere you fly out of will probably fly you into there to change to another flight...
The summary of this point is that if you drive to Charlotte, North Carolina and get a flight from there to Portland you will only be paying around $450-$500 because you are flying out of United's hub airport...
Something to consider.

"They definitely need it to fight cancer funding"

I know what you were trying to say, but I thought that was a bit funny.

Cara, I am wondering if it is too late to offer a suggestion. I have seen you do such a nice job writing articles for Division 2 cross country and track. Perhaps you could take donations for your trip in turn for writing an article on Flotrack about the team of the person's choice. Maybe you could have a value of, say, $50 for an article. This way you could use the talent you already possess and the donor would be receiving something in return that would not cost you anything (except your time of course). Maybe it is too late to change what you are already doing but I thought I would put it out there. Good luck.

So here is my back-up plan. A raffle for every dollar you donate, I will put your name into a raffle for a 30-40 dollar gift. To do this you must go here:http://carabyrd.blogspot.com/ Update: I am calling this off now, and those who have donated keep your money, I will not accept on paypal.
