Yeah, DIII in California must be such a chiste if those guys managed to medal. I mean, their girls are faster than their boys. It must have been a weak year for the division.

Is the girl's team really good, or do the boys just suck?
Usually programs arn't so lopsided like that. It would be embarrasing to be one of those guys, lol

Response To carlylejones: I just jotted down the totals for the top 7 videos every day, starting on 2/18. It wasn't at all scientific, I didn't do it at exactly the same time every day. Just for myself. I was responding to "vote counter", who also seems to like arithmetic.

I love your video! It's awesome! I hope you win the two tickets to Beijing. I was a competitive x-country/track runner and hope that at least one of my six kids wants to run at Campo! I think you've found a second talent in filmmaking. You should do one for track season, too! (p.s. Pattysue Plummer was a friend of mine when I was at Stanford)

Good luck with the contest, but win or lose this video is inspiring to athletes and coaches. The passion your kids showed in the video is in direct relation to the passion you put in on a daily basis. Hats off to you and your team - they are great kids, and great athletes!

Dear Dude, I am completely aware of what this contest is all about. One need look no further than to the left of this comment to see the point for this contest. It says: The Best uploaded running/track related video wins 2 tickets to see the '08 Beijing Games. I was simply stating reasons why I don't think this video is the best. I am very sorry that my simple criticism has had such a dramatic effect on you that you had to resort to personal attacks. I hope that in time you learn to take criticism better. You will find out that your life is full of it.

Dear Mr./Mrs. Elite Runner: One need look no further than your "name" to put your comments in the correct context. While the intentions of these kids, and the video, seem sincere and convey a respect for the sport, along with perhaps a nostalgia for those of us that enjoyed participation in high school cross country, your antagonism is pathetic. You miss the point of the contest and the the site.

Are you kidding? Of course I asked athletes and friends to vote. It's a trip to Beiging. What fantasy world do you live in? And the kids in the video are excited to see it in the contest too. Some of them are asking friends to vote as well.

I definitely appreciate the constructive feedback that some people have offered. The length isn't great for on line viewing for sure. I think the "kiddyish" response has a lot to do with the fact that it is a film about a high school team. I don't think any apology needs to be made for that.

Let's see your film.

I'll keep it short. This video feels a bit cliche'd and i'm not quite sure what all the hype is about. I mean come on, this almost feels like a SNL parody of some running shoe commercial or new age running product. Also, comments below feel kinda kiddyish, like this should be on dyestat or some other high school site. Finally, i hope this guy doesn't go soliciting his high school, people that don't even normally visit FLO, just to come on here and vote so that he can win the contest. Hope that wasn't too harsh, but it had to be said. Back to Flocast!!

fiestacitykid- I'm not sure how one can prove something is not professional. I'm an English teacher. I work at Campolindo High School. I don't own a video camera. I have a mac pro with imovie. I really did spend three days locked in my room working on the movie. My housemate was ready to kill me after hearing the audio playback over and over and over while I was editing it. I'll take it as a compliment that you think this is the work of a professional. I really did put a lot into it. And there are 16 kids that can attest to having their coach annoy them with, "OK, just run down the trail one more time" so he could get the shot just right.

Like I suggested below, the run footage was done more for style than as an accurate display of various athlete's abilites. These were not the actual runs the kids did, but dramatizations on and around the terrain we encountered during our week at the camp. It's supposed to be fun! Although our girls are "ballers" as HD would say, our boys are pretty darn good too, winning the NCS title and placing in the top 10 at the California state meet.

We wanted the running scenes to be fun, rather than competitive. Most of the footage was shot before and after the actual runs the kids did. However, for the record, both teams won section titles. Thanks for the feedback. Keep it coming, as I'm thinking about doing a film focused more on track.

Each summer our varsity cross country athletes spend four days at a cabin in the Sierras. It is a chance for the kids to set goals, bond, and run on beautiful trails. I wanted to put together a film that would capture the spirit of high school running, and focus on the competitive anticipation that drives successful prep athletes. The interviews with the athletes were a last minute idea we did as the kids were cleaning up the cabin and packing the vans for the return trip. They ended up being the anchor points of the film. Thanks to Flocasts for the opportunity to get this out there for more folks to see. And thanks for everything you guys are doing to promote the sport.
