Mark From Flotrack   February 11, 2008 at 9:54pm
Yeah so there has been a lot of commenting about this video. There are six videos from this group that make it to the final 10. The final 10 voting will be a little different and the best video will win.
Now can we turn it down with the comments..... I think constructive criticism is great but saying someone is gay....... Come on. If you think a comment should not be up just hit the red flag and if other people feel the same way and hit the flag the comment will be deleted.

Thanks,

Mark Flo

Again guys: SAVE IT FOR THE FINALS! Sheeze! SIX videos make it into the finals (along with 4 from the next round) for final voting which won't be until JUNE 2008!!!. Even you bashers here have to admit there ain't 6 other videos better than this (even if you have 2 or 3 that you think are better).
Let me put this in a way that might make sense: this is a semi-final round and the top 6 advance. Get it? 1st place or 6th place: you're in!

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this video is in the top 3. Especially because of the fact of how many people have been on the board bashing it. Is it possible to cheat the 1 vote a day system? Cuz if it is this video is definetly a good canidate. Believe it or not I have run agaisnt Lovett and specifically Nick. I hate to beat a dead horse, but Nick is pretty stuck up and well... a toolbag. I wish that his bad reputation didn't have such a negitive impact on the rest of this 4x4 team. What shi#tty teamate. Honestly the video was subpar for me.

Nick did you redshirt indoor? I don't know how much money they gave you (cant be more than 25%)but your pr is only 48.23. So #1 stop using the number 47.7 (splits are bs) and #2 let us know if you ever compete on varsity or improve your times. You must be one hell of a prick to brag the way you do. You don't see coast to coast bragging about their accomplishment, they just want to share their experience with others. Same as 1546 and almost every other video out there. You are just too self-cented to realize that. Grow some balls and open you mouth, cuz i gotta take a piss.

Would you like me to find one by flotrack that is better then? They aren't a multi billion dollar corp. And how is it not about the video (ok seriously) I think it is a video competition. It is everything about the video. If it wasn't about the video maybe people could just send in some audio with their favorite warm up songs and possibly win the tickets to the Olympics. But since it is about the best video i think this video should be getting a lot of criticism.

I was there at the Georgia Olympics when this happened and the race was phenomonal. Stop all this talking about what the actual splits were because in order to win the race the last two legs would have needed an average of like 58 seconds and I think the last leg ran high 47.

alright people, i don't know what the HELL your problem is, at least the haters i mean. these guys are AMAZING track runners who ran an AMAZING comeback race. so what if it was filmed on a pocketsized camera? so what if it's not the best quality? last time i checked the prize of this competition was to go to the OLYMPICS as in a SPORTS event. it's not like these are being submitted to the sundance film festival. it's not about the video, it's about the TRACK. it's about athleticism people, real athletes doing great things. so stop being jealous and appreciate the effort of the runners, for the good of the sport. to the submitters of the video - good luck to you!

Here's a clue: the top 6 (SIX!) vote-getting videos here make it into the finals (where the voting starts all over again). If you look at the votes, and have viewed the others (or at least the top ten), you'll see where this is going, and y'all can come back in June for the finals.

the effort is in the last 2 legs.
and the best part about the video is that there aren't any ridiculous voice-overs, it's just the race, and other 4x4's just don't compare to what is in this video.
and it actually is edited perfectly.

Confused Dg   February 10, 2008 at 1:46am
I watched your video and where is the effort? Honestly you guys put up a race video online for the contest and you guys have nothing but a short video of a 4x4. I can go to all of the flocast meet historys and find 20 heats of the 200 from this weekends BU indoor meet. This is not dif then them but without commentating and just some music. Come on guys you could have at least put some effort forth to make your video stand out at least besides have 2 fast legs at the end of a slow race. Not saying its not fun to watch. I am saying for those of you voting so much for this video. Its a shame that those other people that actually put effort and creativity into making their video are not getting the votes they deserve. If you want to watch fun 4x4 go watch fast d1 meets on the meet history section of flotrack, and keep the real videos for voting on.

I can't remember exactly where, but I think mark said on his uncut video that he was really excited about this contest. he talked about what type of video would win. he referenced the high quality professionally (very good amateur) editing that was going on. he said these were good but he also said that just an amazing race, captured spur of the moment, could also win. I can assure you cheating is not occuring on this video just A LOT of people voting for it. If you want 1546 or Coast to Coast (both excellent videos) to win VOTE for it and have your friends vote for it cause thats all that is happening on this video.

Objective   February 9, 2008 at 9:34am
This is a great race. I am surprised by the amount of votes though jest for the fact that it is only a single race. Most of the the other well ranked videos are compilations of many races and training. Not to take anything away from the race because that comeback was amazing, but more effort was definetly put into other videos. If we wanted to send the person with the best race or split to the olympics, we could just look at a score sheet. I believe the focus of this contest is more on the artisitic side. Good Luck

Just an FYI for those fixated on the overall time and the splits: this is the AA Ga State race. These are small schools (AAAAA is the largest division), not the big Atlanta metro high schools. If you are focused on the overall or split times, you are missing the point (of the competition, and the video). BTW, a number of good videos here. I liked 1546? also.

I took your advice and timed the race on youtube. You were close on your time but it definetly was not under 48.0 The final split for Nick Green came out to 48.34 (very respectable). Great race but it is hard for me as a 5a athlete to have compassion for a sub-par time. My vote will still be for coast to coast, 1546, and I may give you a point or two.

"i agree, this video makes my di*ck soft and small. It is Horribly filmed with a horrible video camera, horrible music" - weaksauce

This is just a video of a race that I filmed with the pocket sized digital camera I had with me. I didn't film it with the intention of making it stylistic or inspirational and submitting it to a contest, it just turned out to be a damn good race.

And I suggest you go to a different website if you're looking to get a hard on. If you were hoping to get one by watching men's track videos then you need to re-evaluate yourself.

I like this vid and I'm voting mid-range for it. I especially liked watching the first couple legs and seeing the effort of those guys to keep the team in the race. And yah, they dropped the hammer, like the title implied. Pretty remarkable and must have been a blast.
Can we tone down the venom a tad?
Peace

Whoever "47.7 lol" is, maybe instead of telling people online that you have a really big ****, you should just time the other three splits, and subtract it from the final time. That way you can know its a 47.7. Judging by the maturity level of your post, I would assume that you're probably not smart enough to figure something like that out.

Here's a link to the meet results, that should get you started... if you think you can handle it.

oh and for you who doubted that he ran a 47.7, here's the unedited version so you can time it yourself.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9mG-PJU5z9Y&feature=related

and those who bash the video because it's a slow time just don't understand the concept of athletic competition in general. all of the splits would be dreadfully slow to antonio mckay jr who would rape everyone on this website in a 400, but having the intellectual ability and athletic experience to understand how impressive the race was, he was the first to give the race its praise when the video was posted.

this video's not gonna be deleted because there's nothing illegitimate about the voting. at least nothing less legitimate than '1546' making a facebook event promoting it

i agree, this video makes my di*ck soft and small. It is Horribly filmed with a horrible video camera, horrible music and it is a horrible time. 3:30?!?! I knew georgia was slow but not THAT slow. The worst part is you cant even time the last leg to see how fast it was. I dont think it was a 47 point, i think the other anchor just ran more like a 57. Honestly, ok race, but there was no effort put into making this video, and it was not sweet to watch at all. can everyone just please stop voting on it, its really not even on the same level as relay across america and 1546. Those are legit running videos and this is weaksauce.

Big your talkin out your poophole. I bet the reason you stopped the video 3 times in the last lap was so that viewers couldn't easy time your split. Georgia must be inferior in track and field to the rest of the country. In california you have to break 3:20 to get into the state meet. Winning times are usually 3:10 - 3:12. That is 5 seconds a lap faster per lap. There are distance runners who can run the mile by the themselves only a few seconds slower than your sprint relay. Grow some balls and admit that your video is one of the worst ever posted. Im oretty sure watching this made my ***** shrink 3-4 inches, granted I still got about 9 inches left after that.

distance runners are not superior to sprinters just because they run longer distances. that makes no sense. and the reason we had a slow time was because our first 2 legs ran a 54 and a 52. we're not voting on how fast people are, we're voting on how the videos posted reflect how awesome the sport of track and field really is. you don't have to run a 3:10 to have a good race. i came from 40 meters behind and ran a 47.7 to catch that guy, and that is what you are voting on. not how the cameraman didn't have a professional quality hd camera with like 100 x zoom and amazing editing. seriously? come on.

Sometimes a race is so impressive in itself that it doesn't need voice overs of the runner reciting poetry.

And somewhere between starting track in lower school and earning a scholarship to a top SEC track program, I think hard work was PROBABLY involved. How about you think about that before you only praise distance runners for putting in hard work and determination.

its a great race, however a very slow time. I also do not understand why it has so many votes, its just one clip... no editing or thought involved. Think about it... who really deserves to go to the olympics. Now this is an ok clip, 1546 is the definition of hard work and determination, just as with MIT's run across the nation. Distance running revolves around the word work, Think aboutthat when you vote.

Cody = most of America who enjoys videos but is too focused on time

shows the general trend that the track community now focuses on world records (time) at major running events rather then appreciating a race for the race (competition)

as seen many major meets and races are doing away with rabbits.

so even though it may be slower then another state, it should just be an awesome comeback.
