Near Fatal Pole Vault Accident

The landing sound is very obviously fake. It just doesn't sound right. If you look at the guy's form and the position of the pole it all looks right. Imagine if the bar and the mat were beneath him on the screen - it would look like a normal landing. It doesn't seem physically possible for him to land behind the bar without even touching it with the pole in that position. If he really did fall, he must have been close enough to land on the mats that are in front of the bar.

I'm thinking this is faking purely judging off of people's reactions. Everyone just stands there except for the kid in the green off to the left who just jumps up and down.

this is fake. look at the coach in the blue to the left. When this kid falls the coach just writes something down and doesnt run to the kids aid. nice try though.

not to mention the fact that the spectators are different from the first camera angle to the second. the official is in white in the first angle and has a blue jacket on in the second one.

That guy must have broke his back. What a noob he didn't even reach the mat! LOL!!!

I'm a 15'5" vaulter and though I've just started the sport (this is my second season) I can't understand why people don't have more sympathy for this guy. Is it because he's only vaulting 12 feet or so? come on! And I can't see how it could be faked - so I don't buy that!

To you people who say this video is fake you need to take a close look at yourselves before making a judgement on this. If this was your team mate who took a hard crash you would not make those comments. Sounds like the kid was hurt real bad. I hope he's OK now.

Transmission was lost within 1 second of 'impact' and we went straight to color bars and static...what network was this broadcast on?.. the guys in the truck were pretty quick.

he died for like 5 minutes then they started him up again. he finished the meet before he died again this time for like 7 mins but they started him up again and he rode home on the bus....most of the way.
