You make some good points. You forget though that most people's experience with the Olympic games is through NBC and their coverage is all about showing how the USA is better than everyone else. Let's hope this year will be different and NBC wont make an enemy of anyone who beats a US athlete.

I think you are correct about a race of beauty. So as not to heat up the Jamaican/American debate, I would like to ask a simple question. Why is it that when people are good some Americans cannot accept this? I was at the Penn Relays two weeks ago(my first time) and I noticed that there were lots of Jamaicans in the crowd. I also noticed that they routed for the underdogs as well as their Jamaican "fellowpersons". If the person is good why can't they say so, rather than create all sorts of animoisty among athletes. I think as we get closer to the Olympics we need to remember what the games stand for. If Tyson was the better man today, so be it, if Asafa another day, Usain was on Saturday and Aliyson was last August, so was Veronica. I know that in a long time this Olympics will be one of the better ones, considering that fact that at the sprint level both the US and Jamaica have depth. I would not be surprised is both the 4 X100 relay records go considering the depth of talent that we can see coming from these two countries and there are other countries that we have not heard about just yet since it is early in the season.
I think that Usain did well and the video was a beauty to watch, given the conditions had Tyson opted for the 100, we could have seen another world record run. Kudos.

Jamaica Inv. 2008 - The 21-year old was known until today for his prowess at 200m (world silver). His 9.76 was truly a thing of beauty
