Maggie appeared to have something left in the tank at the end. Once she figures out a better approach for the first lap, she probably can easily go under 2. She may still be lacking confidence in running the first lap faster. She definitely has the "wheels" for the 8 and maybe the 15.
For Maggie at this point it's all about the time. The tenths of a second she's looking for resides in the area between 300 and 500. Consistently Maggie tends to lag in this section, get semi boxed in so that she has to go around people to get in position for the last 300 (sometimes she has to slow down to get to the outside). So much of it is focus and awareness during the middle of the race. I sense after being this close, she just might nail one in London. Go Maggie!!!!
I completely agree with Coach. This past year i ran like maggie did the whole season leading up to regionals and ran 1:57. At regionals i went out with the leaders and ran 1:54, and i was able to do that because i was an aerobically fit 800 runner as is maggie vessey. She needs to trust her aerobic capabilities and go a bit earlier.
not sure who's coaching her, but come on. She does not need to expend any more energy and she could be under 2. She back in traffic for 550 meters of the race, she ran all of final turn in lane 2, there's your half second, AT LEAST. In a lower key race like this, there is no reason she should not have been in the top 5 through 400-500 meters, then push home hard from 200 out, with no traffic to break her rhythm or the need to be out in lane 2. She seems to be a gamer with some talent, hope whoever is directing her can make these basic adjustments so she has a shot at going to Worlds.
Officially a Maggie V fan I am. Her signature kick was amazing! She's like a female Nick Symmonds but hotter. And then the sware at the end. This is what track needs; people who don't give a "fu.ck!"

We need Jenny B in the mix to shake things up.
