Coach Metcalf has been successful at both his endeavors. As an athlete Metcalf earned All-American honors and graduated with the fourth fastest steeplechase time in school history.
Metcalf's success continued when he started coaching for his alma mater in 1996. Metcalf's hard work came to fruition at the 2006 National championships in Sacramento where two of his athletes won individual crowns. Ryan Brown took the 800 meter gold and an hour later Amy Lia surprised the nation by kicking past the field to claim 1500 meter title. The success did not stop there. Washington came home from Sacramento with 19 All-American honors in 2006, which surpassed the previous record of 15 set in 2005. |

Plus hearing about all the PR's was pretty exciting too. Great workout.
Is there anyway we could see a Bowman workout in the future? AFter watching her run SEC's this weekend I am assuming she has run some killer workouts.
custom milers ftw at 6:15
Metcalf is by far my favorite coach in DI right now. How his athletes are doing is speaking volumes for his ability to get the best out of his athletes. Good luck Abbott, Metcalf, and the rest of U-Dub!
I can't believe they ran this going in to the track season.
