Out Of It...   June 16 at 5:58pm
Congrats to Wheating!
You can't fake that kind of daze. I think the dehydration theory explains both the calf (hopefully a cramp as Lannana said) and this post race stupor.
Strong work gutting out the victory.
I'm glad Ryan cut off the interview...that guy needed to lie down and get some fluids

I think these guys will be the future for American 800m runners. They run like they are well over 23. Good Luck at USA's!

Crazy round's but I'd give the work load slightly to Everett.

Wheating Everett
Prelims 149.42 147.77
Semis 146.21 146.97
Finals 146.21 146.27

Wheating did not run his best because he had to run Everett's race and stay within striking distance. Wheating went through the bell at 51. His first lap is what made him labor on the final stretch and could of easily put strain on his calf. Excuse for not running faster? who cares because he won and they both had an exceptional weekend.

Excuses? I dont know why he would lie about a calf injury and he has no need to since he just won... obviously he wasn't at his best anyway since he ran his exact same time as he did in the semis but in the semis he wasn't tired at all.

SO WHAT?   June 14 at 1:11pm
So what? the "Uconns" ran with a rabbit, no prelims, or semi-finals. Im not impressed!

Who redshirts outdoors if they are not injured?? This isnt Football.

Um.. Mike Rutt and Brian Gagnon ( Junior and Senior at Uconn who are both redshirting this outdoor season) just went 1:46.47 and 1:46:56 this Saturday.... Lets just say that the 800 at USA's is going to be ridiculous!!

Quit making excuses! "stomach ache, headache, calves ache??" Just admit that the Everett kid spent you! Wheating had no explosion at the end because he went for his move at 600m!

Best race i've ever seen!

these other interviewers are terrible, asking redundant questions. Ryan, you gotta through your weight around a little bit. Or just flash the stache, they should get the hint.
