Oh, and UNI men finished 11th at these champs, while Arkansas finished 17th.
sorry to go off like this, I've never even been to Iowa, so I'm no homer...but damn, pay attention.
I got to see Dorian win the 1600m. Ill state campionship, on a hot day. He has been a runner i been tring to iminate. He was nice enough to take some photo's with me and my dad,and grandfather, at the ill state meet. The first time i saw him run was in the summer when he was in 8th grade, running at Augustana RI. Ill. He ran around the track and made it look so easy winning the 1600m run. I was i think in 3rd grade, my grandpa told me this kid will be special when he gets older. It looks like grandpa was right! I know i'm not as good as Dorian but i'm only a freshmen going into my soph. yr. I hope i will be able to just get to a state finals before i get out of high school. Great job Dorian i will keep tring to come close to your times in HS.
Dorian is a BAMF! I can't take all the credit for this success even though I was always the rabbit during the workouts, but I feel I deserve a little credit. But seriously big congrats to this guy. He is the epitome of Hard Work and Dedication.
Hey I know that being from Illinois, that we are loaded with talent. This guy came from a small school and ran a 4:09 1600 at state his senior year in super hot weather. The next kid out of some small school inIllinois, Peter Callahan, yeah you heard it hear first. This junior just ran 4:16 in a full mile at the MW distance gala, this kid has raw talent.
is there a northern iowa? ask places 3 through dead last. Dorian U. is the man. I heard he once was on a run in the woods and a lion attacked him and he wrestled it down to the ground...and stayed on pace.
this doesn't surprise me at all. being from IL i've followed his times and even by IL guys he is overlooked because he wasn't in the cl AA. now he goes to UNI, a very solid mid distance team, but is still overlooked. it sucks. this guy will challenge for an a spot on the olympic team in 2012 and i could easily see him making it.
Who are you?? my firends and I were laughing saying my money is on the Northern Iowa guy.. and then Holy Crap he takes 2nd... At one point I said is there a Northern Iowa??? Awsome job man, Congrats

to see that Ulrey's team mate finished 6th in the 800. Not to mention that Mulder was also the INDOOR 800M CHAMPION: http://www.ncaa.com/uploadedFiles/Sports/Indoor_Track_and_Field/Articles/Division_I/D1IndoorFinalResults.pdf.
