Best Comeback of 2008 : Speakers & Interviews

I know this isnt a 2008 comeback...but one of the best comebacks I have ever seen was when Dathan Ritzenhein falls behind Ryan Hall at the NCAA Cross Country Championships then busts out a huge kick to out kick Ryan for the victory! If anyone has that footage...please post it because I cant find it any where.

Just because you have no interest in field events doesn't mean they suck. Many people have no interest in distance but it doesn't mean our events suck.

plus field events suck..i have no interest in them..besides high jump - pole vault...or their ok

This video is about comeback performance. You can find 'comeback' athlete of the year on any other site. Flotrack is filled with videos. Inside these awards are videos that 'connect' the topic described. Lastly, what sort of value is added if the selections made are from videos that the site has no content or copyright of?

To #26. Thank you for bringing up a topic that has been rehashed a mere thousand times. Although it sounds like you believe there is an actual bias, please remember how it actually works. I'm sure if you sent an email or contacted the site -- and wanted to dedicate your time to capturing field events, they would be all ears. But here are the facts. Most of the content is captured by one or two people. Sitting and watching 10+ rounds of jav, long jump, etc. doesn't cut it. It's not a bias, it's how the sport works (unfortunately). Should they ignore the other events? Instead of complaining, be proactive. Go do something.

It's easy to sit on a computer and move your fingers. If you have this much passion about something, one-up your own comments, and get off your chair ...

why are all these awards and comments so focused around running? why do the field events continue to get the shaft on this site? perhaps because they don't have any videos of the field events? hmm.....

So why don't you make your OWN website and make your OWN awards, I am personally sick of hearing "Male Athlete of the Year", or "Female Athlete of the Year", its so redundant and is not nearly as exciting as something as "Comeback of the Year", where its someone you would have never thought would have done something, but came out, and shocked everyone compared to someone who you knew was going to do good, and did a little bit better this year than last...its so predictable.

yah this catogory sucked over all...i think you should have done some awards such as...comeback runner of the year...coach of the year...male runner of the year...female runner of the year???those are the awards i would like to see...and maybe some interviews in the future of some runners yall normally do...such as craig mottram,alan culpepper,adam gouche,nick willis,denna kastor (SP)
people besides ryan hall, leo, solinksky.

Also, maybe Ryan was being a tad sly with his choice....maybe he just wanted to see how many true Flotrack fans had different opinions. He has been looking a bit tired these days and probably has been making some sleep deprived decisions.
So Ryan, take note....whether you are tired or not....true Flotrack fans will add their own comeback kicks to spice things up....Track is back!

I must have a different deffinition of comeback, because I dont see this as a comeback, its more of a come from behind victory. A 4x1 just seems like too short of a race to have a comeback. There are no second winds, its an all out sprint and they had an anchor who runs 10.01 open. My top picks would be
This years NYC marathon had great comebacks. Paula demolishes the field after stress fractire/not so great Olympics. and Dos Santos rallies in the finals miles for the win.
Standford men's xc fell so far last year and got back on the podium lead my a super frosh.
Brie Felnagle is running great at the start of '08, then disasterous races from regionals-Oly Trials. She rallies back with the best XC season a 1500 runner could ask for.
Bobby Curtis overcomes insomnia to take the NCAA 5k.
Nate Brannen as describe in the video.
Shawn Crawford comes from nowhere since '04 to make the Oly Team and medal in Beijng.
David Kinsella comes back from injury to have an outstanding xc season.
Ritz has to stop and walk in the Olympic marathon b/c of a side cramp and still comesback to be the top American at 9th.
Angelo Taylor adds a second gold after 2000 in the 400IH after being the 3rd finisher at the trials, .04 off not making the team.
And I hope i remeber this race correctly, Sanya Richards hawks the Russian anchor for Olympic 4x4 gold after crapping out in the open 400 as the heavy favorite.

I agree, I guess you had to be there to appreciate it. I was not simpressed with the comeback, no offense to the sprinter and his team.

yeah..uhh song was had gapped the field by like 200 yards and german came back...they should have had honorable mention...the freshman this year were unbelievable..

How would German's race at Big XII be a "Best Comback" or a "Best Kick"? Doesn't really fit into either category, as he wasn't coming back from anything and his kick wasn't all -that- impressive. He ran a good race, the kick certainly didn't determine the outcome there.

.I think this is one of those, you had to be there races to get the full appreciation. It is hard to keep all the lanes straight on a little computer so I have to take your word for it. Thanks for the effort, but I would be less than honest if I said it was my favorite comeback video. Nothing against Jeffrey and his team.
