- See Less -Sara Hall didn’t really consider track and field as a career option until her senior year in college – even after picking up four state titles and a national title during her high school career, and being a member of the extraordinary Stanford cross country and track teams, where she earned four runner-up finishes in NCAA championship track races. But when 2006 rolled around, Hall brought home the national 5K road championship and the prestigious Continental Airlines Fifth Avenue Mile.
Hall is currently taking a break from cross country to train indoors and test the track as a new, permanent direction. Although she hasn’t decided whether or not the mile will be her event, she’s gaining experience through a variety of competitions under the wing of Team Running USA coach Terrance Mahon, where the 23-year-old trains alongside her husband, Ryan Hall.
Some of Hall’s personal records include running the 1500m in 4:08.99 in 2007; a road mile in 4:25 in 2007; the 3000m in 8:56.93 in 2006; the 5000m with a time of 15:20.88 in 2006; and a 10K in 32:57 in 2007.
You made your country very proud.
I know there will be a truck load of whiners and critics tonight and in the following days. But they all run at 3+ hour marathoners, so pay them no mind. (3+ hour marathoners qualify as armchair quarterbacks in my book, and really haven't earned the right to be critical) Only the 2 of you know how tough you had to be to make that top 10 and 22nd place for Sell.
I'm sure you gave 110%. I personally think its very inspiring that we can be competitive again. Medals will come.
Dathan, Ryan, and Brian ---Congrats!
ps put your seatbelt on :)
