I think he's great. Honest, fun to watch.

I really like this guy. I like that he's not afraid to show emotion after his races. It's fun to see, and makes running seem more like a sport.

I'm pretty sure Flotrackers probably wear FloTrack teeshirts (they had 'em on in Boston Marathon footage). Additionally, I would imagine that they probably spoke with the athletes before their races and squared away some quick post-race interviews.

Nahh, I was at the race, he was pretty chill. He was (obvioulsy) quite angry, and mostly brooded at the press conference. I bumped into him afterwards, along with Lagat and Webb, and he seemed to be better. He is just like you or I--he had a bad race, now he is motivated as hell.

The interresting thing, is that I saw 3 types of people in them: The Lucky One (Webb), who is havign a great season and was very happy and excited after the race--motivated and enthused with victory; Then there was Buster, the competitor; he lost, wasn't happy, and seemed REALLY motivated to get back to training. Almost in a vengeful way. Then, of course the Master--Lagat. He was the perfect middle ground. He was the one I got ot really converse with ater the conference, and he was the absolute middle ground. He knew it was the start, knew where his trainign was, and was...well, just so damn confident seeming in his ability to win later. Not haughty in his powers--he is actually the nicest guy I have ever met..ever--but just confident and knowing.

Give Mottram a break. You would be pissed if you were him and lost to Webb.

Most of these athletes love the fact that they're getting to give something back to the Armchair Milers. They're giving the interview to us, not to some journalist.

Respect that Flotrack is doing something FOR YOU. Nobody has to bring these videos to us. There isn't some huge demand that enables these guys to bank off of post-race interviews.

Flotrack is a privelidge, and I for one appreciate this privelidge.

He may of expected an interview, but not in the manner that this person conducted it -- that's what we all have a problem with.

So you guys really think that these people did not know they were going to be interviewed? There is a back drop for god's sake! They were shuffeled to the interview area for....ummmmm lets see..... An interview.

Great race but more important he said something significant. I have not been on a track since February. Maybe we can learn something from that.

in response to "Umm...", I would have to say we know based on the fact that he just sort of has his camera pointed at him for a good while and then just starts talking from 10 feet away. although I guess he could have introduced himself earlier, I wouldn't bet on it.

Just backing up with what everyone else said... freaking introduce yourself to someone before asking them questions. That was nuts. Mottram handled it very well considering he was fronted just like that.

I agree. The approach was very rude. I'm a huge fan of Craig's, and I love watching the races and interviews, but I would have rather not seen an interview like that. Introduce and ask permission.

Mottram is the man. He handled that interview much better than I would have if I were him.

the intro def. could have been smoother but I think Mottram handled it quite well. He didn't seem all that perturbed. Just spoke honestly.

i see no problem with the interview. i have lots of respect for mottram after seeing this. he wanted to beat these guys!!! he races to win, when he loses he doesn't like it.

he looked pretty collected considering some dude with a camera was just like "3rd place, you must be pretty pissed huh?" You probably looked like a crazy guy.

Come on you have to introduce yourself first before sticking a camera in the guy's face straight after he's done. Amateur, amateur journalism.

He was clearly quite annoyed to be questioned straight after he ran his race. He speaks openly and honestly I like that. True Aussie.
