why did he get in the fast heat of the mile? jager had to run the b section of the mile and ran a 4:05 and got 3rd overall. (borchers and that other guy beat him who were in the fast heat) i guess if he had been in the fast heat things may have played out differently, but why didn't jager get to run int he fast heat and this kid did?

In response to "grow up," it was already German's intentions to push the pace and go for the record, which he was willing and able to do alone (evidenced by CA state meet) and the best Puskedra could do was force the pace and shake him up. That's exactly what he did, so there's no criticizing him for being a poor racer.

What an impressive meet. 8:47 two mile (in which he ran sub-8:40 pace for 6 laps) and then a 4:06 pr in the mile the next day when he was obviously tired and racing a guy who ran 4:01 the week before. He didn't wilt psychologically, which would have been easy to do.

If he wants to start winning, he has to realize not every race is a time trial, and with a national championship on the line, you don't make your strongest move 200m into the race. Even if he doesnt have a great finishing kick, he could go the last 500m. It worked pretty well for the El G guy...
so grow up and understand the moment- you are at that meet to win

From an article I read in the local newspaper he likes to keep the race honest. Nor racing as to where the kickers are licking their chops. Making sure to give it your all. I think college will be a huge benefit for him. Nice race luke and keep up the great running. Would love to see him race in the Deseret news 10k this summer.
