yea it may be true he was better than evreyone else in the race but that 4 seconds may not have been achieved without the watch, and stogs will win the rematch one

yea the dude is like 23 first of all, he was registered running road races before he enrolled in high school at age 20. also if he believe wearing a watch was legal, why did he have to lie about it?

his team mate probably told him to take it off because he was supposed to be focused on the race, not his time. Most likely the coaches are just trying to enforce feel over knowing your splits so you can race your best under different circumstances.

You guys are totally ignoring the age controversy. Solomon entered a number of races(5+) as a 20 year old before he enrolled in his current HS. Once he enrolled in HS, his age suddenly changed to 18. This was over a year ago. If the age he gave when he first came to the US was true, he is 21 now. Dunno about you guys, but I didn't turn 21 until I was a senior in college.

Oh yeah, and the guy is just better than the other athletes in the race. A watch doesn't change that.

the rule for the race is you may wear a watch as long as it is not a GPS watch, as some GPS watches can tell you your pace-per-mile. it's in the rule manual for NY xc. JESUS!!!

hey i know this is a huge meet, but come on! Who runs 2.5 for XC?? What competition in in New York?? Illinois is were its at! York vs. Geneva 2008! I really hope somebody tries to cover the Illinois State Cross Country Race (AAA).

are definitely the ones commenting on this pointless watch issue. if you were old enough you would realize that a watch on your arm doesn't make someone faster. so was a watch on his wrist the reason for a 27 second victory?? wish everyone would stop crying....its a watch, not steriods

watches obviously have distinct advangatages hense ILLEGAL.
fair judgement of time gives unforsaken knowledge during a confined race.
mile markers do nothing- he would have known how much distance he ran with his time alone
?unfair knowledge in the race to disualification?

yo when were watches ever legal (SOLOMON??) Why doesn't everyone wear a watch since it is an advantage, because they follow regulations. why exceptions for solomon? he is no different the anyone else --> DQ DQ DQ

couple things....
1) there were no mile markers on the course or anyone yelling splits, so haile wouldn't have known where the markers were (its his first xc season as well as first time running on van cortland)
2) lets not forget what he has accomplished with this record. most of the time when there are rules like "no watches or jewelry" its because its an old-school rule that has never been changed. collegiates and pros wear anything in a race....

bottom line, this event has been going for many years so any record that is broken at a meet like this is something special

If any of you ACTUALLY think that any runner is subject to disqualification for wearing a watch during a race then it is clear that you have much to learn.

who says he lied in the interview? maybe the watch was turned off, I run everyday with my watch so during races it feels weird without it on so I run with it but don't have it on

everyone needs to chill out. solomon is an extaordinary runner who deserves everything he accomplishes. most races allow watches so i dont c wat the big deal is about tht. just respect him. jeez

yes but the watch gives him a fair advantage as he knows his splits while the other runners are going on feel,,also he lies in both his interviews on dyestat and flotrack saying he did not have times during the race...also why would his teammate be telling him to take it off it was legal?

Great Video....having the voice of the woman who told Solomon to take the watch off is quite evidentiary...(if that's a word). So if watches are cause for disqualifcation at the end of the race, whay are they not cause for same at beginning or middle of race? Did someone give him poor advice? Mark or Ryan can you clear this up with Reebok???? Thanks
