She was an animal in the HS weight room which is partly why her arms are so defined. Some coach back then said she was pound-for-pound the school's best weightlifter, boys included. The rest of the story is nobody's business, especially mine, but nothing that would cause great concern. She has had a couple completely unrelated injuries over the last couple years, so I'm hoping that's behind her. *fingers crossed*

"clearly malnourished"...no, you don't know anything about her.

There is a big difference between being at a "lower weight" and being clearly malnourished. She has absolutely no body fat, which women especially need for proper hormone balances. Runners like Sam Chalenga look proportional; Allie's skin clings to her bones. It is very scary-looking. I am not trying to criticize her, I simply worry for her future. It would be a real shame to see such a potential talent lost to something as preventable as malnutrition.

Ever think that's maybe why the word 'apparent' is in there? :D

Practice What You Preach   November 25 at 6:38pm
"Is anyone else worried by her apparent emaciation? She literally looks like a skeleton. Guarantee she will be injured in the near future."

Ever think that maybe she's just a smaller girl? The guarantee of failure in the future due to injury is also a jerk move. Seeing as how you can be a good runner at a lower weight. Not everyone is the same. Sam Chalenga weighs about 115-118, Chris Solinsky is a tank... How about practicing what you preach and YOU keep it real?

Is anyone else worried by her apparent emaciation? She literally looks like a skeleton. Guarantee she will be injured in the near future. It is a tragedy really. So many runners lost to eating disorders.

It's a good thing she didn't win, woulda blown her goal. ;-)

All frosh who broke 20:02 at nationals never did again (Huddle & Andersen). On the other hand, the only other freshman top-5'er over 6k won nationals twice (Flanagan).

wondering said:
Ryan, about what did she say?
She said thanks and she was excited about being the first frosh. Ryan asked her if we would be seeing her getting a FloRunner of the year award from us down the road and she said she hopes so. That she was glad she was 5th today because she set a goal before hand to improve her place each year she runs.

Some great freshman running this year (from everywhere). Too bad about Jenny B. Haven't figured this girls race out yet. It's like someone threw the playing cards up in the air and everyone came down somewhere at the finish. Only Villanova and Florida State managed to get 2 runners in the top 20. All the rest were singles from 16 different teams. Lots of surprises.
