What makes this workout even more amazing is that there is about a 30 second conversion per mile for elite men vs. women per mile in racing or workouts which means she ran the male equivalent of 6 X 1 mile in 4:16, with a 2 min. rest. I've never seen a guy do that level of workout. Pretty amazing.

What's That?   July 12, 2008 at 10:09pm
I bet ANZ loves runners like Kim who actually lives in NZ and represents the country all the time. Unlike the Marathoner Liza who has been a resident of San Antonio Texas, has to sue to get on the Olympic Team, seems to pull fast times out of no where, yet anytime there's a piss cup in the picture folds like a cheap suit. Too bad LHG rarely leaves the comfy confine of Texas. ANZ needs to look into her relationship with "Memo"

Great workout and good to see Kim take yet another Oceania Area Record in the 5000m in Rome last night. That makes 6 Area records - 3 indoor and 3 outdoor. I wouldn't be surprised to see her holding every Woman's Oceania Area Record from the mile to the marathon in a few years... along with a medal or two.

This was a very boring edition of WW. Mile repeats are not the most enjoyable to watch however, so I don't think it was boring because the athlete featured was a female.

U Homo Zeynup?   July 9, 2008 at 10:39pm
i think i know why you would rather see a guys workout instead of a girls. hey i personally like seeing both but its good to see a girls workout so that i know what top female runners run for workouts, i already know what type of workouts the men are capable of. i'm sure u couldn't even do one mile in 4:52, and if u could you'd still be slower than a girl, lots of girls ha.

I personally hate it when girl workouts are put on here. I find them boring and would rather watch guy workouts. Girls are slow and Guys are more ruthless.

She ran 4:24 indoors this year in Boston before that amazing 2-mile following Defar, setting NZ indoor records for both distances. Funny that the indoor NZ record is now faster than the outdoor record for a mile.

From Cmoney-"you're telling kara goucher to watch out for kim smith?? no way kara beats kim". The only reason beat smith last was that every body was passing form heat exhaustion. it was a fluke.
