I admire Ian for his honesty and for knowing who he is. He seems like a very grounded person, hopeful but realistic. Obviously he has worked very, very hard to get where he is. I watched him throughout high school, but sort of lost track of him at Stanford. Great to see him resurface with such a successful race in his home state no less!

Thank you for this interview, Mark. Ian has worked too hard over the years, and he REALLY deserves this. It's really great to see a guy who can truly relate to the emotions and struggles of a non-world-class runner. He has his head in the right place. And, of course, never hurts to see a home-grown Oregon kid either :-)

Best of luck in Beijing! Enjoy being an OlympIAN!!!

I saw a short interview of Dobson from the 1999 Foot Locker cross country national championships, and I really didn't know much about him. After I watched this, I have newfound respect for him. Go Ian! I wish you the best of luck in Beijing!
