Thanks, Slowfan! Wish they had all 2 minutes, but it was great to see how Anna came so far off the pace and finished strong while Sinclair and Clark died. And, the commentator had all about given the win to Sinclair. Anna is amazing!
This race was run on Feb. 28, 2009 and it appears that she can run shorter than 3k.
"Barringer won the mile in a time of 4 minutes, 25.91 seconds, which is the fastest recorded in the world this indoor season. The previous best time was run by Lindsey Gallo (Team USA) at 4:27.90 on Feb. 7. The time was a collegiate record, as well as a Big 12 Conference, Gilliam Track & Field Stadium and CU record. The former collegiate best mark was 4:28.31, run by Vicki Huber (Villanova) on Feb. 5, 1988."
Fellow Mainer said: Is there any video of the 800? I taped the meet, but NBC didn't show the event. They did the same thing the week before not showing the SC. Thanks.
Universalsports.com ... the site is complex and crappy, but they have good content. http://tinyurl.com/odghlh ... for whatever reason they cut off part of the video ... as if we can't watch for 2 minutes? that's a bugger ...
You would never want to bet against her in Vegas, that's for sure.
This gal has TONS of untapped talent, and I think she just might be right about how her ideal race is the 1500m. Doesn't get any sleep and still runs sub-2:00? Wow.
Brooks, Don't get me wrong...Anna rocks and I'm looking forward to see how far she takes her career, but I'd reverse your order. Look at Jenny
Barringer's 5k's. Also, remember that Jenny is still in college.
I was there when Anna ran her sub 2:00 at the Reebox Grand Prix in NY. She looked very much in control, in shape, and strong. Keep it up! Hopefully all your hard work and future plans for Track and Field comes true. Great Job again...
with anna's 800, 1500, and steeple times this season i'd have to put her as the best all around female amercian distance runner right now. jenny being a close second. it'll be fun to see them race each other in the steeple at usa's.
Here's all I'm saying: She has more speed than Slaney, she's not beat up as Slaney was at this age, AND she the psychological elasticity that Slaney never had. Props to JMC. (1999 was the height of EPO use wasn't it?)
