What a awesome place to run. CU has such a great distance tradtion, but perhaps producing the best Steeplers. Don't forget Billy Nelson was also a Steeple Chase Olympian.

It's only about a mile to the canyon trails from the where they were on the creek and only about another 2-3 miles of trails if you stay on the creek path up the canyon. then it dead ends into a parking lot. if you go the other way (away from the mountains) you can take it to south boulder creek path and the buff ranch. that run round trip is about 16 miles. The creek itself isn't as bad as everyone is making it out to be. I've done dozens of ice baths in there and even after a long hot run drank from it since the water fountains on the creek dont work half the time. And they dont love their troughs, they deal with it while their cold spa is being fixed. Never thought I'd see an alter-G at CU.

The dirt trails will eventually take you up Flagstaff Mountain and can extend your run well over 10 miles. It is steep! It was talked about a lot in "Running with the Buffaloes".

loved the soft surfaces, but that ice bath creek looks pretty wild.

does anyone know the distance it takes them to go to those canyon trails?

Yes, We Do   August 13 at 10:05pm
Now we just need a workout wednesday: CU's doing something/anything in brutal summer heat and wearing next to nothing. It gets hot enough up here, don't worry.

So, I have yet to even put my foot in that creek- considering the variety and oddity of people that swim/bathe in the creek I don't see myself doing any icing in it any time soon.
