this guy has a great attitude. so many pros seem to be very bland, for this guy competition and running is a emotional/physical adventure. he having a lot of fun and sharing his joy with everyone, rather than just focusing on his goals

Jennings is the man! You have got to be a little crazy to do something no one thinks can be done. If I were Webb or Lagat I would be most scared of this guy because he isn't intimidated by their name power and he will do anything to beat them.

The man is trying to find ways to motivate himself to push through the pain barrier and perform at his max. I've heard NFL players make very similar comments about their opponents. It will be war to make the Olympic team, and Gabe understands it because he's successfully done it before (as opposed to the arm-chair detractors who have posted here).

all weirdness aside, i think jennings has some great points. it seems accurate what he says about running off a bad race and needing to get a good race in. i love that he is often thinking about beating his competition it seems like a great motivator. best of luck to him!

I ran against Gabe Jennings in high school and it is great to see him doing go in the pros. I wish Gabe all the luck this year.

I am don't particulary like to hate on other runners or anyone at all. If you are going to make a comment you should back it up with facts not just attack the guy for the way he is, thats just busch league.

With this being said, it looks like his major problem to me is his expectations. I mean yeah it would be nice to beat Webb and Lagat but come on. He seems to set himself up for dissappointment which sends him into "depression". If he was so in tune with his body he would now what he could really run and realize the best possible place maybe third and shoot for that. Aiming to beat Webb and Lagat is only going to set up more unreal expectations for this guy.

All you people hating on Gabe can say what you want, you can only put yourself down. He's obviously happy and having fun, leave the man to enjoy his life however he choses.

yeah, he did take 2nd in 2006. Webb was out sick and injured all season. Legat won, and Leo was a young man in 3rd.. Leo has run what seems to be easy all season long.. Just fast enough to win.. Rumor is he hasn't really started that much speed work and is getting ready for the olympics.. So Gabe needs to watch his ass talkin smack like this

Gabe-I hate to break it to you buddy but there is no way feasibly possible that you have a remote chance of taking down Webb or Lagat. I would say it would be in your best interest to just focus on your on performance and your own training and do the best you can possibly do. I believe you can make the olympic team and you got what it takes but IMO you should cut this whole growling act out of your script. Webb is probably sitting at his house laughing at how clownish you are.

I think he puts a little too much pressure on himself, to the point that it could be interfering with the quality of his running. there's a difference between being confident and expecting so much out of yourself that the slightest perceived problem gets you angry and makes you do even worse. I say this all from experience.
