#17	Rob Jackson June 22, 2007 at 9:04am Nick made the right move to go with the Gold medalist from Athens.He ran smart,stayed out of trouble,with all the pushing going on up front,he could get tripped.One thing I would correct though, and that is he needs to be much closer to the front with 150 to go.He's got plenty of time to work on that.Gags made the comment about that at the Boston meet.In world class races overseas they all have the same kind of speed or better.I could see him getting a medal next year if he can get under 1:44. reply

#13	DIII Guy June 14, 2007 at 8:50am anyone who says that nick is cocky obviously has never met him or raced against him. I ran at a bunch of DIII meets with him and he is a great guy. He is competitive but after any race he is just another guy. This interview is just Nick on Cloud 9, he just beat an olympic champion. reply

Cockiness is for those who don't think it's gonna last. That being said... I don't think Nick was overtly cocky in this interview. Now, Buster on the other hand... reply

Symmonds attended Willamette University, a Division III school. While at Willamette, Symmonds owned the track; he won seven national titles. Though Symmonds was relatively unknown heading into the 2006 US championships, that did not discourage him. To earn his successful finish of second in the nation for the 800 meter, Nick passed a pack of five runners during the last 150 meters. Now Nick?s route to championship has broken the mold for others to follow.
