Yea he's talking about Batman. The guy is so y. Theres nothing we can do right now which is unfortunate. Although, I'd much rather be James in knowing the fact that I can sleep at night. Athletes will have to worry about every blood/urine test they take being placed in containers and stored for years to come. They may not be able to detect the "drugs" currently in the sample, but give it sometime and those samples will come up bad. Thats the beauty of technology/evolution.

Anyone ever wonder if USADA has currupt members who are paid by athletes or coaches to test potential undetectable drugs?

the reason track & field gets so little respect is because the coverage is so horrible... this is a perfect example of how crappy reporters are, especially compared to the flotrack crew

I am sure James is a great guy, but lets think about this. No question there are people cheating in this sport. At the same time, I'm not a big fan when a person thinks the only reason they aren't winning is because the field is on drugs. He was injured and made the final. If he was healthy, he probably would have made the team. And been a couple tenths of a second off the win. Not to mention, calling someone out on drugs because they beat you, is assuming you have identical athletic ability to start and they have an advantage because of drugs. What if the person is a better athlete to start? Are they on drugs? We haven't even seen a 47.xx this year have we. Lets wait until the times start to get better before we assume the race is full of cheaters. My two cents.

I did not really know much about Carter's past other than the fact that he is always near the top of the US list year in and year out. But, he got 4th in both 2000 & 2004 Olympics, very impressive, but a tough pill to swallow. Just 2 years ago he went 47mid so he probably still has some left in the tank. It would be cool to see him go out on top versus with a DQ. Good luck Carter.

decathlon?! interesting. I've never heard of a 400h converting to a decathlete, that would be interesting. That sounds like a lot of emotion. Maybe he means it, but I wouldn't be surprised if he goes back on his word.

Most male athletes give pathetic and boring interviews, saying only what is safe and predictable. This was refreshing, he actually said something other than, "I knew I had to run my race.', like who else's race could you run? I hope James has a good future outside of track when he does retire, regardless of when it comes.

don't know about the 400m hurdles, but I just have serious doubt when I see an athlete who is pumped and blowing away the competition ... it just ruins the whole experience. And seeing cheaters' names still on the American records is ridiculous--oh, he/she didn't get caught that year.

If you cheat you are scum and you are a second rate athlete. Cheaters suck as humans.

I feel like that reporter got there late because he seemed very surprised that Carter said he was done running, even though Carter had announced it already a few times before.

Sponsors need to take more responsibility of their athletes. I know it is their job to obtain the best athletes that they can, but some brand should stand up and make it a point to sponsor only clean athletes. A sponsor that is really looking out for the sport of track and field should require mandatory drug tests of their athletes. One of the main reasons athletes use drugs is to get good so they can obtain/keep a high paying contract. If they were in danger of losing their money because they took drugs, I think the incentive for using drugs would greatly decrease. In regards to what qsuriname said, "James, try Terence Trammell's gear company", I think that could be a great idea. Assuming Trammell and Phillips (who I believed competed under Trammell's company this weekend) are clean, which I am inclined to think they are, there is a strong potential for a clean grassroots movement: one that opposes the use of drugs in sport as well as the corruption of sponsors whose only end is the bottom line (money). Sorry if this was ranty.

Great talent and spirited competitor, I'd love to see him compete in the decathlon or even the 800m. It seems like his strength would pay dividends in either event.

I appreciate the mentality of not being a tattle, especially to the media, but if he knows of druggies, he needs to call them out. Right now it might seem like an impossible up-hill battle, but letting them continue to cheat opens the doors for more.

I got a lot of respect for this man, he's like the Ken Griffey Jr. of track. He's a clean guy stuck in an era of performance enhancing drugs, there are a lot of fans who unknowing of the fact that there are a lot more people using drugs than they think. Good Job James, you've earned my respect over the last few years, and you got nothing to put your head down about.

You can just see the pain on James' face. The guy has put his heart and soul into his profession. It has got to be hard racing against some competitors who have no shame in cheating and for sponsors that are all about what have you done for me lately. I can understand to some degree the nature of sponsorship, but the guys who dope are trash. A cheating athlete is an oxymoron. If you cheat your not an athlete your a cheater. You can print dat...Bam!
