I think our current media coverage is a huge problem. The races are shown and commentated without emotion. I think any sports fan would get chills from watching the coverage of the last 200m of the 1964 10,000m, "LOOK AT MILLS, LOOK AT MILLS!!" the commentator is so into the race. Now the "professionals" calling the race can't even get people's names correct. Sites like Flotrack that show the athlete's personalities have done so much to move the sport forward. After seeing interviews how can you not love the "Black Cactus"? This is where USATF needs to step up their game and turn track and field broadcasts away from human interest stories and focus them back on the competition.

i remember watching the adidas track classic 2-mile in 2007, and they took time to watch barry bonds attempt to hit a record home run. he fouled about 9 times before flying out to shallow center. that pissed me off for a week to follow.
