Abdi Abdirahman, Somalian-born and raised distance runner, stormed the States, packing 130 pounds of sheer determination and drive. The three-time USA 10,000m champion (2001, 2005, 2007), two-time USA 10,000m runner-up (2002, 2004) and 2005 USA 10-mile champion has plenty to be proud of and plenty more to strive for.
The Nike repping distance runner attended Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona in 1996 where he ran full steam ahead to claim the title of Arizona State Junior College champion – twice. Abdirahman then won his first two collegiate races at the University of Arizona, the Jammin’ Invitational (24:28) and the Aztec Invitational (25:28). With his stellar record, he swept Pac-10’s Cross Country Athlete of the Year award in 1998.
In 2006, Abdirahman crossed the Chicago Marathon fourth with a personal best time, 2:08.56. Abdirahman placed 14th at the New York City Marathon in 2004 and was Olympic Trial runner-up in the 10,000m, qualifying him to compete as an Olympic athlete in the 2004 games, where he placed 15th in the world at 28:26.26.
I understand the need to recoup the promotional costs of spreading the original t-shirts at the trials. However, some of your members have enough t-shirt selling experience to help you get the price down and tap into the $15-20 crowd. This would further help your revenue stream and allow you to invest in extra server space and better video editing equipment and better mikes. These t-shirts would be a big seller at a lower price.
I can hear some of your points but we are not selling in bulk so we do not get a deal in shirt prices. It is actually on demand. When someone orders one the company prints it. We do not have time to send them out so we have to pay for that service as well.
Me or the this site will never be PC and when I have to stop making stupid comments like my WCSN crack or have to disclose that I am embezzling the millions of dollars from the T-shirts sales to my off shore betting that will be the day that we shut the site down.
At the end of the day if you add in the loss form the first batch, the shirts we give away, the up front costs, the time spent dealing with shirt companies and the printing, and this batch we will still be in the red by a good deal on Black Cactus Shirts but I will not loose any sleep over it, so I suggest you don't either.
The price was decided by me and not Abdi. And all the money goes to me to fund my WSCN account which puts me back $4.95 at Track Meet or $50.00 a year.
Also the other shirts were cheaper and people complained so I had to get better shirts and better logos. We lost money on the last batch and I am not willing to loose more on this one.

the ryan hall shirt is only $15...and a portion of the proceeds go to World Vision & the Ryan Shay Memorial Fund
I'm just a broke college distance runner :-(
Does anyone know where the money is going?
I agree with Gilmore though--I can't afford the shirt.
Good Luck Abdi.
