After dominating the marathon distance for two years, Evans Rutto was forced to take time off from the sport, first for injury, and then with personal problems. He has tried to make a comeback several times, but for the first time in two years, it looks like he's actually going to make it. Most doubt he'll ever return to his 2003-2004 form, but for the athlete who still holds the record for debut marathon (2:05:50), even getting back to 90% will make him a contender.
