Our family here in Flagstaff continues to think of you and the extraordinary, unchosen journey that has been yours since November. Good luck with the getting to the trials.

I want to sent you some money, I am by far a rich man, But I want you to continue your goals and pasion in running.
It does'nt make sense to me that a wonderful couple can be broken up like this..

Alicia, I spent all saturday crying over your loss. I was married a month after you and Ryan were and my husband runs marathons as well. We had woken up at 4:30am to watch the race here on the west coast live. my heart shattered upon hearing the news. Please know that you will be carried through this time. you are NOT alone! Cling to the love you were given from Ryan. cling to the peace in knowing he is rejoicing with Jesus now. you are so incredibly loved and supported across the world and beauty will come from these ashes.

Wishing comfort to Alicia...as a young woman also recently married, my heart aches for your tragic loss. Know that there are many of us thinking of you and Ryan's family in this difficult time.

I remember running against Ryan in high school, he will be greatly missed.

You always made the Tempo sweet. R.I.P Ryan Shay..You will be missed.

It is very sad that Ryan is gone. I hope everybody starts to hear that those with heart problems have their limitations! I am a runner and I have a child with a heart defect and since everyone who seems to be dying in these runs have a heart problem of some kind, I encourage those runners with heart problems to not push themselves. Please see a cardiologist! It would make sense for every runner to see a cardiologist to ensure they are not at risk (Ryan was diagnosed an enlarged heart at 14). Thank you for "listening".

Ryan will be missed. This is very sad for his wife and family as well as the entire running community.
To the Bible-beaters out there: God does not exist. Please stop being so foolish. The best days of your life are right now. There is no afterlife so stop wasting the only life you have with mythical gods from fictional books.

It is sad that Ryan died at 28 yrs. old.

28 is just way too young to die.

What the devil meant for bad, God will turn out for the good. The Bible says what is stolen from us shall be repaid sevenfold. Know that the best days of your life are ahead of you, and God bless you.

Alicia, stay strong and continue with your running. From what little I can tell from this video, Ryan would want that.

So sad. Our hearts are with Ryan's family. Nothing we say can help. But know we loved him and he gave so much to us, his fans.

God is in control of everything on earth. Though we may not understand his plan...he has one. May we trust him in all things. Ryan is with the Lord now smiling down on his wife and family. God bless

The reason we can trust God is that he understands what it is to walk in darkness. One message of the Cross is that God chooses not to stand apart from our suffering. He is not unmoved by the pain of the creatures he loves.
