if that post really was by J-Mac from Oregon, then he must be stupid. There is NO way you are faster than David you y, unreliable fool. how about you focus on running one race and stop screamin "waaa my mangina hurts"
David I have been to all the UW indoor meets this year and seen both of your races, I know exactly where you are coming from. You made a valid point in your interview. Anyone who is trying to go pro should expect to be winning and running fast times. These wussies complaining about your comments are a bunch of morons, don't need to apologize because anyone in your position would say something like you said, or worse. Good luck with the training man, keep working hard and I guarantee someone will give you a shot sooner or later.
Sorry if I came off as disrespectful to college athletes. I was one as well not too long ago. I was just pissed about losing this race, and got interviewed immediately afterwards. If I had raced against pros and got outkicked both times, I'd still be pissed as well. I think another part of it is just that since I had graduated, I feel like I should have moved on to the "next level" so to speak. But, I should know that there will always be great collegiate athletes that can do great things. So no offense to the NCAA, all of you are doing some big things and raising the bar for US distance running!
David, I don't know why you have to bash college kids like that bro. Just like the other guys said, you will ALWAYS get beat by some college guys. You honestly think you have anything over Rupp, Fernandez, Ulrey? Or ME for that matter? Get real dude, just train hard, race smart, and be happy with the results. Crying isn't going to get you nowhere.
captain obvious well said!
What gives him the notion he shouldn't loose to college kids is beyond me! It's not like he was beaing ALL college kids when he was in college anyway!
Maybe You should be happy and stop making excuses! Take away the positives. Stop searching for excuses and being so caught up with college guys. If you were over seas you'd be losing to 16,17, 18 yrs old pros. Runners are runners respect the game and do the best you can (tone jovial)
dude just because kids are in college doent mean they are always beatable, pro's get beat by college kids all the time. Show some respect. You PR'd be happy, be realistic about it, its febuary! The SLOW tyson mile on friday night, a 1:57 negative split would have got 3rd!
Who says everyone has to start working as soon as they graduate. He likes running and he's very good at it. Him going pro is a now or never thing so he's going for it when he can.
Facilities for strength work? There's entire websites on just bodyweight resistance work that will kick your butt. Weight room? A garage, a bench, some dumbells and a horizontal bar and weights from a yard sale. Professional? And you're not doing upper body work? I work for a living. I do my track work at lunch and weights in the barn after doing the dinner dishes. No excuse! Look at Shalane Flanagan and work just half as hard. I'll bet you improve.
I'm sorry for my earlier comments. I thought you HAD gone pro. I empathize the difficulty in balancing school and running. I'll be pulling for you.
