At worlds in 2005 Torres finished 13th in the 4k race to lead the US team. In 2003 Torres made his first world team in the 5,000 meters and qualified for the final, this performance earned Jorge his first US # 1 ranking. Torres had a stellar collegiate career at the University of Colorado, where he was an NCAA champ, two-time runner up, and seven-time All-American.
