Fam talking about the possability of making the marathon his event is exciting. I think that a lot of US runners in particular do want to race everything and finding one event to focus on, for a season or even a year or two, has to be difficult.

FAM, always nice to see you in a race. I like the way you have you priorities engrave into you training and racing. It's all about 2012!

I support Fam.......I wish that he would have chosen 2010 ( no Olympics or outdoor Worlds) to experiment because I believe it cost him going to the Worlds, where his best shot was probably the 3000 Steeple. But it's his life so do what makes you happy.

"I didn't want to break 13 in Europe, I wanted to do it in Eugene."

That's awesome and exactly what American distance running needs. There are enough guns in the US now where we don't need to go to Europe to have a fast race. Next year isn't a World Championship year and sometime needs to step up and setup a fast 5k or 10k on the track with all the best american runners. We never get to see a race with all the top guy Lagat, Teg, Ritz, Solinsky, Rupp, Fernandez, Fam, Jager, Webb, Hall, etc all on the track at the same time. Even at nationals they all pick different races. If someone with the connections and deep pockets (Nike) would set this up it would be a great step in taking distance running to new level of popularity in the US.

That was a great interview. Classic, 'Ritz was a 13:40 high school 5k runner, and I was running 15:35 in high school, if I can run 13:11 5k now, he sure has hell should be running 12:56.' Was hoping you would run NY this year. Keep that patience man, you have some big races ahead of you.
